Disturbing rumor re: Rolando McClain

Usually where there's this much smoke, there's fire.

True, however using the word "refused" vs saying he was not comfortable to practice after being cleared yesterday, seems to me that they are trying to create a story. It's only been 1 practice, I guess we will see at 3:45 what transpires. I will be up there today. I'm not ready to say there is smoke yet. He knows his body if he tried to go last night and didn't feel right I'm not going to say he "refused". I would say he didn't feel comfortable and played it safe. He knows this team is counting on him.

Fisher said they told him his hamstring is fine, and that soreness was normal. He still refused to practice.

The trainers can clear someone to play / practice. But it's still up to the player ultimately. If he felt it was still sore, then maybe he wanted to sit out another day. It would be nice if the reporters find out what's really going on, instead of making an observation, then coming to their own conclusion. If that's the case.

I know you are reporting what you heard on the Fan, but as I said, didn't and refused is a big difference. Decided not to practice and refused is a big difference.
Maybe he was cleared, and he said to Garrett or Marinelli or both, he would rather not practice. Needs another day.

Just brinigng up a different scenario. We will see soon I guess.

So like I said earlier why wasn't this issue report last night? They had one practice since the hammy tightened up. They don't practice until 3:45 so where is this refusal coming from? Is he not going to his meetings in the morning? I'm still trying to figure out where this refusal is and that he is quitting. No I'm not blaming erod for sharing it, I blame the people who are reporting something that doesn't appear to be accurate at this very moment.

Well, according to some, he quit before so all negative reports of a report heard on a radio by a cousins next door neighbor's plumbers cat, is to be treated as gospel

It's on 105.3, which carries the Cowboys games. Also reported by Mike Fisher yesterday, and Brian Broaddus today.

it was Mike Fisher on the fan speculating. it definitely seems that you want this to be true for some reason. Broaddus did not do as you claimed and Mcclain did give it a go yesterday.

I heard Fisher on the radio, and he EXACTLY said that the trainers had given McClain full clearance, but that he did not practice.

That is just what he said. Believe me or don't.

Doesn't make sense if practice is around 3:45 TODAY. Is this yesterday's news or something?

I guess we can take it as fact if SAS and Skippy discuss it.

Not saying that is the case but it would be more than just a twitter out there by some guy who I can't even find with any media ties. I would think something like McClain refusing the practice would all over the sports networks

 • Rolando McClain's leg injuries might have come at a bad time. He hurt a hamstring Sunday and a quadriceps on Monday. It's apparent that in their words and actions, the Cowboys have a big plan for McClain. It showed up when he practiced as the second-team middle linebacker on the first day of camp. It showed up with Stephen Jones calling him one of the early surprises. It showed up with Jason Garrett saying positive things. It showed up when he took some first-team snaps at middle linebacker last week. I wonder if the Cowboys are doing everything they can to make sure he's the Mike on opening day. And I wonder what it means for Bruce Carter. He was sent to the sidelines with Justin Durant taking over as the weakside linebacker with McClain in the middle. The Cowboys said they are just looking at different combinations, but it was interesting -- at least to me anyway -- that Carter was the first one bumped, not Kyle Wilber. That shows you what the Cowboys are thinking on Wilber, too.

McClain is leaving the field with Jim Maurer after a short stint at practice. Guess they tried the hamstring and it didn't feel good.

HE quit ,he quit, his a quitter
yap something wasn't right [it was his hamstring] actually it's a sore knee via injury report
but disregard that

So just to follow this story.

Some guys reported that McClain was cleared to practice but refused to go out even though we haven't had a practice today yet and yesterday, it was reported that he did try to practice and left the field with trainers? What am I missing? I guess after he left the field, the trainers said he was fine and then decided to not go back. Who knows.

But there certainly isn't a lot of factual stuff being thrown around.

So you have some fans who would cut him based on a guy with a twitter account and has nothing to do with the organization or the media that I can see. Only thing this tells me is we have some fans who just does not want this guy to play for whatever their own personal reasons

really?! you have to admit considering his history, even the most optimistic fan has reason to be concerned.

"What is a Brian Leatherman?"

Its amazing what sports radio speculation turns into.

You can watch his effort practicing in the scrimmage and gauge for yourself whether or not he is trying. The link to it is in my thread.

But that's the risk with player like him - no benefit of the doubt. There is the risk he wakes up one day and says "Done." Hard to plan around a guy like that

He could be MIke Singletary for the first x days and then - on a dime - quit

An athlete ultimately needs to listen to their own body. I have torn both of my calf muscles playing basketball and MMA and got completely different advice from two different doctors. If he trotted out there and tried to give it a go and felt uncomfortable that should be his right.

As I've said all offseason and 2 weeks into camp now, I am super impressed by Wilber and how quickly he has adapted into that role. I think because of that, I think he is going to get better. He has shown that he can grow and be effective. I see Wilber playing a huge part in the defensive success as a Nickel rusher and as a starting LB. I didn't have high hopes for him before, but after last season and what's reported now? Oh yeah he set the bar very high on "hope".

There is a reason his career has gone this way. That is why I put zero hope in him.
