DL troubles again

Maliek Collins needs to go back to 3-Tech were he excelled and got 5 sacks from his rookie year. And that’s assuming he can play 16 games which to my knowledge he never has here.

So we need a 1-Tech, 3-Tech, and another DE...
Collins plays 3tech. Woods is the 1tech.

Actually i dont know if you guys notice they use a rotation. They rotated Crawford Collins, Woods, Reid and Ross, Irving, Ringo, Datone
Crawford and Collins rotated different spots.

While I don't think the team should be in panic mode, I do believe they need to address DT1, DT3 and edge this off-season.

Woods was a pleasant surprise this past year. Nonetheless, we need to upgrade the position, whether that's via the draft or free agency. If I had a magic wand, I would draft Isaiah Buggs. He can most likely play the 1 and 3 positions.

I really like Maliek Collins. However, 2019 is a contract year so drafting a 3 in this year's draft would seem to make sense. It would also free up Crawford to play more DE.

This begs the question, what to do about DE? My guess would be to sign a FA much as we have done in the past. If Gregory doesn't play or only plays a limited number of games, we will really miss his pass rush - not just the sacks but the QB pressures. He provided pretty constant pressure from the RDE.

Maybe not as bad as first reported. RG has a chance of being reinstated without missing a game.

Woods n Collins are the starting DTs, and DAL should find guys better or in direct competition with them.

At this point, TCraw is best as a utility backup DL...never want to see him starting at RDE, that's embarrassing.

Same one i used, now u can look at Woods and Reids snaps. And they label the DE DT on weeks as meaning they started the game at that position. I get what youre saying but Crawford didnt play the majority of his snaps at DT in any game this yr. He was moved all over the place. Early in the yr he was moved at 3tech LDE some RDE, but late in the yr he played alot of RDE because of Charlton being out.

They’ve been moving Collins back and forth between the 1 and the 3. I like Woods but we need one more like him or better...

Not sure how many have seen/read this but all indications, he has 100% support from FO. There's no intention of releasing him from what I gather. So like I said in another thread, we are seeing some overaction from a few fans vs signals coming from Jerry, Garrett, and Stephen.

Report: Randy Gregory has chance to be reinstated in 2019
ByPATRIK WALKER Feb 26, 4:12 PM
even if he gets his butt together before September he's looking at 4 or 10 games depending on what goodell decides. But then there's also a good chance he's suspended for the rest of his career.

Parcells did the 2 gap thing.

He ran a 34, using the OLBs as his primary pass rushers and giving the down lineman primary run-stop responsibility.

I hope the proposal isn't that we switch back to a 34. That'll put us even further in a hole in terms of addressing our issues.

Tyeler Davison.
Yes. Davison is a young 1 tech, DAL can go after and keep cap integrity for big money FAs while fixing a need with a good fit for there system. Sprinkle some Marinelli magic dust on him.

not really, especially if you're rebuilding the DL from scratch by salary cutting Crawford (or cutting his salary to match that of a regular 3-4 DE) and letting Lawrence walk.

Where are you getting your pass rushing OLBs? Are you going to try to get Lawrence to fill that role at his size? Or do you propose to neuter him instead by making him a 5-tech.

It took time for Parcells to get his 34 personnel. It would take time today too.

Edit: sorry, I see you’re proposing to let Lawrence walk. Tell me again how this gets us closer to solving our pass rush issues?

I think we need an edge rusher more than another DE.

Just when you thought we were on the right road you're one-two years behInd again.

I say we need a more flexible DL with the ability to play two gaps so a run stuffer, another edge, and DE. You can get a 0, 1 and 5 R3-4 and an Edge R2. You have some on board who may be a 5 and two-three 1s.

There are 6-10 FAs at the edge rusher available.

Your thoughts?
Clowney. If not him then Ansah.

Gregory had 6 sacks with a chance to have 10-12 next year...his loss is a huge blow. Tyrone Crawford was abused badly by the Rams and Colts..badly. He's overpaid and now it's tough to move him.
We have a draft and FA upcoming. Gregory can be replaced. It's not a huge loss. Stop.

Not call it that but he he plays more SPs than any thing. He's stated in the past he'd prefer to play more of a Seattle type D if he had the players.
Seattle doesn’t play any two gap either.

Both Marinelli and Richard want quick, penetrating Defensive Linemen that shoot a gap and try to clog running lanes and get on the QB quickly on passing plays. They just won’t ask any of their DL to head up on a man and try to control both gaps on each side. They don’t play that way.

Now, if you mean just a bigger guy who is difficult to move off a spot and can stalemate double teams, then yeah, I see where you’re coming from, and Seattle did get a couple of guys like that.

It’d still be a one gap defense though.

Not trying to get caught up in semantics here, but there’s a big difference between a 1 gap and a 2 gap defense.

So after several posts of chest pounding you agree with what I said in the first place. Not suprising.
