Not sure what these stats tells us, but it is clear Quinn needs to get on the band wagon of a hybrid D instead of the cover-3 or cover-1 with a single deep safety and press-man coverage on the outside.

Why?

Well sir, IMO it is archaic and predictable, Tom Brady has been picking the same D apart for ever, plus we don't have the personnel for Rip/liz coverage. That's basically just for starters.

Brady has over 2 decades of NFL football. He'll pick apart anyone on any defense. This is Herbert with new vibes. Quinn has to razzle dazzle with everything he's got.

Lets hope he does just that.:flagwave:

The Cowboys were ahead on the scoreboard with 7 seconds remaining in the game.

The Super Bowl champion Bucs returned all 22 starters.

The Cowboys defense in 2020 was the worst in history.

The Cowboys have a new D-Coordinator and had 3 returning starters on defense. One of those starters only had 11 starts in his career.

On the long TD pass to WR when covered by CB Brown, there was a deep Safety on that side of the field.
- The slot WR was on the same side as WR Brown with CB Lewis covering him.
- Both WR Brown and the slot WR ran straight downfield with the slot WR cutting inside about 20 yards from the line of scrimmage.
- CB Lewis fell down and the deep Safety on that side had to come up to cover the slot WR because Lewis was on the ground.
- CB Brown was playing trail coverage on WR Brown because the scheme had a deep Safety committed to help him.
- No D-Coordinator can scheme around the Nickel CB falling to the ground 20 yards downfield.

The scheme was not the problem.

I love to sit back and watch while you own trolls.

The Cowboys were ahead on the scoreboard with 7 seconds remaining in the game. Thanks to the offense

The Super Bowl champion Bucs returned all 22 starters. Another good reason not be so predictable

The Cowboys defense in 2020 was the worst in history. Yeah I know I lived it too, that's a discussion for another day or post.

The Cowboys have a new D-Coordinator and had 3 returning starters on defense. One of those starters only had 11 starts in his career. Point being What?

On the long TD pass to WR when covered by CB Brown, there was a deep Safety on that side of the field. Right, that's what cover 1 does
- The slot WR was on the same side as WR Brown with CB Lewis covering him.
- Both WR Brown and the slot WR ran straight downfield with the slot WR cutting inside about 20 yards from the line of scrimmage. Yes, and BTW that is called the Ohio concept, or “go/flat."
He feel down because of the the weakness of the scheme, which is the 10-20 yard pass, he likely bit on it tried to recover then slipped then you leave your safety in no-mans land, this kind of breakdown is precisely one of the weaknesses of the scheme.

The scheme was not the problem.
Maybe, but maybe not, But the cover 1 didn't work very well did it. Makes my point that we don't have the Talent for the type of D Quinn uses. This is not exactly the legion of boom we have here in Dallas right now.

Read my responses one by one above and then tell us about Tampa hitting more ‘deep over’ routes than any team in the league during the first week of NFL Football – totaling 57-yards and a touchdown on four deep over shots. Brady’s 399 intended air yards were by far the most from any quarterback in the league during the first week. Yes, It's Tom Brady but lot's of other really Good QB's in the league that run the Arians style offense really well, and only two teams go to the super bowl, if we are going to continue to be a predictable D using a cover two or a cover one (which as you pointed out above we cant do that very well), you are looking at a serious let down in December.. Just saying Quinn needs to not be so predictable, defending the run out of lighter boxes, freeing up that a spinning safety to sit deep or to man up with an opponent’s most dangerous receiver. Here's the deal, we might be able to hang with allot of teams this year with our explosive Offense, but that wont get us to the big Dance.

They ran cover 1, 2, 3, or man at least 15% of the time each. They blitzed at a 20% rate.

I guess you could have a more equal split or something but they definitely mixed it up.
