Ramsey, Jack, Smith and Tapper look like 4 pretty solid pieces to add to the defense to me and I am convinced Perkins will be a legit RB.

When I read this, I thought about Emmitt Smith and Rodney Hampton. During the 90 draft, the Cowboys were looking for defensive talent first and foremost. But Emmitt continued to drop in the draft so they moved up and took him because he was too good to pass up. I remembered some fans saying the Cowboys could have gotten defensive help then either moved up in the first or taken a back like Hampton (or a bevy of other backs) in the second round.

Of course, the Giants took Hampton, and he was a pretty good back. He wasn't an Emmitt Smith, though.

I'm hoping the same applies here. EE could be that elite back that transcends the game while Perkins becomes a very good back but not in the stratosphere category of an EE.

But we shall see.

I don't know tyke.

Perkins was taken in the 5th round. Hampton in the 1st round.

Plus, of course, Emmitt is kind of a once in 20 years kind of thing.

The better comp would be what you get for the 4th pick (either via trade or by drafting) vs EE

And if you want to include Perkins, well, a 5th round pick is borderline for free compared to the 4th overall....so almost any 1st player (or two mid/late 1sts) PLUS Perkins vs EE.

Bottom line still is that if Zeke ends up great, nobody will care about the coulda-wouldas.

What's funny is that is that if we didn't take Smith or Elliot they would've been on the list of players we'd regret not taking lol

Umm the reason we couldnt stop Rodgers is because we had no dline. Like do you guys remember how depleted our dline was at that point? Thats why the Gregory pick was called for. Our dline has improved but weve been waiting since Woodson to have a good defensive backfield smh.

1. Ramsey - had he been the pick the media would be criticizing about drafting him after learning he had microfracture in high school along with not being an interception guy and a better fit at FS over CB like Byron.

2. Lynch - the media would have reemed them over spending two picks on a player that they won't know what they got for another 3-4 years.

3. Jack - would have claimed nobody else was going to take this high because his knee has a short shelf life.

4. Spence - criticism would be why are they drafting another DE with drug issues? What about RKG?

5. Cook - not like they actually passed on him, 3rd was too high. But they would point out his not being team captain and how he's not a likeable guy by teammates.

6. Billings - they would point out Cowboys already spent for a free agent 1 tech, and when Billings wouldn't get much playing time due to backing up and possible 3rd string they would blame for drafting at an area that wasn't needed.

7. Jones - this guy may be the most over-rated qb by the media. A lot of criticism would be just how raw he is and how poorly he looks.

8. Blair - criticism would be another DE? You passed on a development QB for another year? What happens when Gregory & Lawrence come back?

9. Mills - punched his girlfriend. Another what about RKG? Also had injuries and slow 40 (4.61)

10. Matakevich - how does he fit in a Marinelli scheme that needs guys who can run?
I agree and it definitely would be a double standard and as I stated before humans sometimes makes me sick in this regard.

We had the opportunity to restock our defense. The FO missed on trading down several times. Not a big fan of this draft. Tapper, Jackson, Brown and Collins were my favorite picks. The others not so much

So you like 3 players they picked on defense but think they missed a chance to restock the defense? That would be a pretty good return of one draft class.
