DMN Archer Blog: Austin could miss 4-6 weeks......

Maybe we can re-sign Glenn now........ Joking but, why not bring back TG Jerry. Even if the knee is still the same if Glenn thinks he can play why not see what he can do? There's no real down side if he gets hurt, most people will say they knew that was going to happen. If not we just made the best offense in the NFC better.

Insert Amendola or Lowber

5-11 talent at best in those 2 - no thanks

I'd rather go deep at CB. LB, Dand Oline where we have NFL real depth.

Austin no ACL will be back soon enough- that is good news.

Glenn said he'd sign for the $750K injury deal.

Seems silly to not do that - even if he folds its chump change

Dad gum facts are like a trip wire.

Right in the face.

What gets me is how he got injured. When you watch the replay, he just lets the guy fall on his knees. A pretty good sign he was just too tired to move or react. He should have been given the kickoff off to catch his breath.

Generally speaking, MCL tears (anytime you hear a sprain that means something is torn, by the way) take 4-6 weeks to heal depending on the severity.

Sounds like speculation. Until the MRI shows the severity, it could be anywhere from one week to six weeks or more.

* Grade I MCL Tear
This is an incomplete tear of the MCL. The tendon is still in continuity, and the symptoms are usually minimal. Patients usually complain of pain with pressure on the MCL, and may be able to return to their sport very quickly. Most athletes miss 1-2 weeks of play.

* Grade II MCL Tear
Grade II injuries are also considered incomplete tears of the MCL. These patients may complain of instability when attempting to cut or pivot. The pain and swelling is more significant, and usually a period of 3-4 weeks of rest is necessary.

* Grade III MCL Tear
A grade III injury is a complete tear of the MCL. Patients have significant pain and swelling, and often have difficulty bending the knee. Instability, or giving out, is a common finding with grade III MCL tears. A knee brace or a knee immobilizer is usually needed for comfort, and healing may take 6 weeks or longer.

We shouldn't rush him regardless.

We don't need Miles Austin to torch Cleveland's secondary.

We need our D to show up in a big way for that one instead. That should be Wade's biggest concern right now.

Let Miles heal.

Not sure I agree with Archer on "having" to keep 6 receivers. Last year, if I'm not mistaken, they dressed 4 receivers for nearly every game. I know Glenn was inactive for 15 and Stanback was inactive for the majority of the season.
You can still keep 5 if Austin only misses a few regular season games.

I agree....unless Amendola explodes in the next game and they have to keep him.

Glenn wont come back anyways.After Jerry publicly dissed him on Hard knocks.Its gonna be our achilles heel,Should have gotten a WR.

Too bad. Austin was playing like a true WR and not a sprinter. 4-8 weeks and a lot of loss of football. He can ride a bike soon but that's not the same. I don't see anyone else playing at his level.

Football physicals are funny. Depends on whether they really want to pass you. Then you really need to pass. Unless his knee is swollen then I doubt he couldn't pass. You don't play racket ball on really bad legs/knees.

I think they should let Glenn pass. In any even if they sign him now then he gets his entire salary or the injury one. If they sign him after one game then it's a rental per game.

The only problem is if they play with three NFL ready WRs then they can't have an injury to any of them or there is true problems. That could put someone or TG back into the picture.

I'd worry more about starting the season with just those three ready for primetime players than who the developmental WRs are.

I read that supposedly one of the coaches was trying to stop Austin from taking the field because he wasn't supposed to be out there in coverage. What an unfortunate turn of events.

I have a feeling you are right.

Why? Has Terry Glenn been miraclously healed during the past month? Have you even tried watching Hard Knocks? Jerry Jones was quite empathic about Glenn's situation before cutting him.

Has the MRI been done and has the results been released? If not then archer is just giving an opinion, and everyone has one of those; usually not worth much.

I bet hes back for the 2nd game. Green Bay at the latest.

Hopefully he can pick up right where he left off.
