It would set a horrible example for any player fighting to return from an injury on both sides. You simply don't see players going for deals like this from what I have seen. I can understand why the team wants a favor returned but still.
I don't think it is necessarily right for Dallas to ask, nor should Glenn be obligated. Ultimately it will come down to how serious the team is about this. It bears watching. I have a suspicion that he will end up being released and this holding him out of contact is a prelude to that.
I don't see an argument here. To me it seems plain and simple. If Glenn wants to play this year, then he needs to allow the Cowboys some protection considering the nature of his injury and the reality of the game.
If my boss considered me a liability, then he would either fire me or make me sign a waiver, what makes it so different with Glenn?
Reality is that Glenn made millions last year for nothing when Dallas could of cut him last year early as well. How long do you expect Dallas to pay a high price for a high risk?
Asking him to accept $500,000
only in the case of injured reserve rather than just cutting him now (which I personally thought they should of done by now, and still do) is not much to ask, and considering all the money he got already, I think Glenn should accept it or he can just walk away. No big deal here.
