Fox just sent out an interesting quote with an interesting headline (see above) from the former QB of the Cowboys about the present QB of the Cowboys.

Here's Troy on Tony:

"There are some throws that you shouldn't attempt to make, when you are playing certain teams. We've seen him try and do that from time to time. When you play a team like the Giants, who match up pretty evenly talent wise, you have to be smart about those throws. Interceptions happen more in the playoffs and during bigger games in December. When the games are close, you have to be smart with the football and that has been a problem with Tony. I know the coaching staff is trying to eliminate those mistakes."

At least this is constructive criticism and not just more Romo bashing.

I see plenty of bashing of posters that are critical of Romo. Even though it is well founded and obvious.

Troy's got something here. How many times have we really seen Tony throw away the football? yah I thought so...memo to Tony...punts are better than picks any day..

Very articulate and very true. That is a source of frustration for many Dallas fans right now.

I believe Romo is plenty good to lead this team to victory with a complete team effort and a good defense.

I find myself wondering about who is coaching Tony and how he is being coached. Seems like someone should be in his ear on the sidelines constantly reminding him of the situation the team is in.

The game against the Giants is a great example, we have the lead and the ball at midfield. In my opinion, this situation calls for ball control, eating the clock and if all goes well moving it down field slowly and scoring 3 or 7 with the worse case scenario being that they play a field position game and pin the Giants deep in their own territory.

On the other hand, the play calling in that situation may be evidence of the coaching staffs lack of confidence in our D.

Lastly, the thing abou Romo that has me encouraged and also worried is that every interception that was thrown against the Giants was completely avoidable (IMO).

The first one where they scored was a bad pass into heavy covverage. It appeared he should have recognized the adjustment the defense made and give up on the play and either take a sack, sling the ball way over the receivers head out of bounce, check it down to a running back or run for a few yards. This is a classic case where its early in the game, the score is close and they need to protect the ball and not give momentum to the other team at all costs.

The second one was a crazy interception that was available because of a poorly thrown short pass. Seems to me these types of passes are the easiest to practice to perfection and correct. It wouldn't hurt if the receivers would work a litle harder to protect their QB. Wittens the last guy I'd criticise, but it appeared he could have made more of an effort to turn his body back to the ball in an attempt to catch it or at the very least keep it from being intercepted. If I was coach, i would tell all the receivers to always assume a defender can make an interception, so if you cant catch it, make damn sure no one else can.

The third interception as we all know was simply ridiculous, both for the situation and the fact it was thrown with the safety playing so deep.

All three in my opinion were completely avoidable. I could make a similar list for last season.

I don't believe Romo is stupid, I have to believe he can see what an arm chair QB sees, so this appears to be correctable.

The fact that this is occurring so early in this year is reason for concern, but I put the blame on us not having a coach who has the control and respect of the team and drills situational football into these players heads.

I also cant believe these coaches are stupid and don't see far more that all of us arm chair QB's see, which is leading me to the conclusion that our staff is even more concerned about our defense than we are.

Maybe if we didnt have one of the worst defenses in the NFL, our QB would not feel pressured to score 30+ a game.;)

You know what's funny? Aikman is pretty much saying the same thing everybody else said, but in a "nice" way. First Cowboy game Troy does people will go back to saying he hates the Cowboys. This is one of the funniest sites on the net next to Extremeskins.lol

There is a distinct difference in what Aikman and Young are saying and what half of the Romo bashers like yourself are saying. They're not being "nice". They are giving constructive criticism without saying things like "He sucks! Start Kitna! He's a loser! We can't win with this clown! etc.."

None of these bashers were around last week to compliment Romo when we beat the Bucs or when we beat the Giants in that big game last December. They seem to disappear like cockroaches in the light. Like every QB in this league, Romo has flaws. Fortunately, his are correctible. They need to be corrected ASAP, as does our pass defense or we will keep losing high scoring games regardless of whether we have turn the ball over or not.

I defend Romo and criticize him. I also see that with other "Romo supporters". The bashers really just seem to bash. That's when you lose credibility and become a "hater".

BTW, how are things going with your Bills? Your agenda is always clear...

I would question the decision making from Romo on the deep ball however on the other 2 these were just bad throws on his part. Witten was open but the ball was behind him and the 2nd was in no man’s land between a streaking Crayton and over the head and behind Williams. All Romo can do is put this behind him and keep on working as he gets himself ready for Carolina

Most of the level headed posters would agree wholeheartedly with Troy. In fact it's kinda a nobrainer.
