Anthony Spencer on stopping Donovan McNabb

Anthony Spencer spoke about the defensvie job the Cowboys have done on Donovan McNabb and the Eagles this season.

"Our entire defense is playing really well right now,'' the Cowboys linebacker said. "Our corners are pressing. When they have to cover man to man, they're doing that. And when we've had to get pressure, we've been able to do that at the same time.

Has that pressure bothered McNabb?

"We're getting him off the spot a lot,'' Spencer said. "It's helping us. It's not hurting us at all.''

Spencer earned the NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance _ two sacks, two pressures, five tackles and a forced fumble _ against the Eagles. Was that his best game?

"I don't know yet,'' Spencer said. "We'll see.

"It's the best so far. I will say that.''

The Cowboys prepare to face a Philadelphia team in the playoffs that they beat twice during the regular season.

Two years ago, the same script unfolded against the New York Giants. The Cowboys lost the playoff game. Maybe you heard.

"We don't get to choose who we play and we don't pick our schedule,'' linebacker Bradie James said. "We just have to go out there and be focused and treat this as another game.

"There are a lot of storylines, people saying it's tough to win three in a row against the same team. But we don't see it like that. We see it as our next game.

"We've been in a situation like this before when we played the Giants in '07 and the majority of guys are still here. And we know how that felt. We don't want to leave any stone unturned and guys are really rallying around each other and staying focused mentally.''

That is what I like to see and hear. Just treat like your next game.

I was thinking at as well. How to take something bad and learn from it. Hopefully that lesson helps them this time around.

Yeah, I think that's precisely why this year will be different. 13-3 + reg season sweep of the Giants + Cabo = cockiness. If we get beat this Saturday, it won't be because we're looking past them or anything.

We didn't look past the Giants. They just beat us because they were the better team at that point.

And they did beat everyone else as well.

completely . having said that unless Eagels bring a far superior game and beat us in the trenches we should be fine.

If our O-L and D-L continue to do well in the trenches we should be able to win comfortably.

i love what i am hearing from everyone on the cowboys so far. not cocking but very confident, very business and workman like in their approach. not forgetting past failures and using it as motivation and lessons to build off of. i have a very good feeling about this team right now.

I'm loving the focus this team is showing. I hope it translates into another skull crushing for the Eagles on Saturday.

Oh come on. Go back and rewatch that game, especially the 2nd game, and tell me you don't puke.

We should have won that game. We were the better team. That game was a total disgrace. And don't even get me started on Seattle...

This is why I'm just keeping my cool and setting my expectations low. Do I think they can do it? Of course, but the last two playoff teams should have gotten it done as well.

One playoff win will do wonders. We need this game.

Second game? Are we talking about the 07 playoff lost to NYG? THey took that game over in the second half and beat us. It was close enough to go either way, b/c the teams were evenly matched in terms of talent, but we didn't look past them at all. They just were playing great football at that point of the season and they took it to us.

The Seattle game we should have won, no doubt.

To your point, we need this game to get where we're going this year. Not to salve our hurt emotions from three years ago. At least our team has proven that it's stronger than our fanbase when it comes to heart.

You have to go with Freeney and Mathis as the class of the passrushing bookends but damn if Ware and Spencer aren't making a surge as of late.

No you don't...if you use the metrics of comparison of both quarterback hits and sacks in combination, then Ware and Spencer ARE the top producing outside influences on a team in the NFL. Going strictly on what they actually have done to this point...then there is the old seven game and 11.5 average they have been limiting an opponent to also.

Nahhh... Thsy gotta lotta help from the referees a number of bogus calls against the boys... changed the whole dimension of the game especially that whack off side call against DWare on 3rd and eight gave em a short 3 and they went on down the field to score a td... Nfl refs admitted to blowing the call later but what good was it to the Boys than...... We got ripped big time ............................................................................

First of all, the Giants should never got that first touchdown. Ware did not jump offsides, allowing the Giants to keep the ball.

Dallas also blew a lot of opportunities throughout the game. Romo overthrowing Owens, and Crayton blowing two other chances comes directly to mind.

So that was Dallas' game to lose..... and they did.

Cabo had nothing to do with that loss to the Giants. That is such a copout.

The COWBOYS had everything to do with that loss. They got pushed around in the 2nd half and the Giants just played better.

That offsides call was whack. So was the grounding call on the last drive. And we did have drops and blown opportunities. Those things happen in *every* game.

The Giants were a lot hotter going down the stretch that season than we were, and they were only a notch below us in each of the regular season games. But we lost that game because we didn't execute and they did. I don't understand why we can't just admit that other teams in this league are really good, too.
