Just like Parcells said about not winning games... If you're not winning now you suck.... If a player is not making plays and making plays now....he sucks!!! This is a show me league and Austin sucks!!!!

All I can say is he better play lights out against Houston or bye-bye!!!

This is so dumb... He slips on a route and drops one pass, and suddenly he's a waste of space??

I'm not a fan of the "what have you done for me lately" outlook in the regular season. But when a guy has two mistakes in a preseason game and people are calling for your head, it's a little ridiculous IMO.

Yeah, Romo should have been cut immediately after the Seattle game too. I think what some people dont know, because CBS didnt show or talk about it on TV, is that Miles beat his DB regularly in Saturday's game. When you're in the stadium and you watch only Miles every offensive play like me, it's easy to notice. Because of this, Garrett was able to take advantage of the Denver secondary. During Hurd's big underneath catch in the 2nd quarter I believe, Garrett had Miles run a deep pattern which attracted double coverage from the corner and safety. That completely cleared out the underneath area, leaving Hurd wide open with room to run. Miles was also the lead blocker and sealed off someone on one of Tyson Thompson's big returns. Miles did slip on a play resulting in an interception, and he did drop a deep over the shoulder pass because of poor hand placement. However, with Hurd fumbling, and Julius and Romo slipping and falling too, I find it hard to believe that Austin will be cut.

I hope the 2008 roster pans out like this: Because I dont like Tyson Thompson's lateral movement on kickoff returns, I think he's much better suited as just a running back. I think he's replace Julius as the starting running back in 2008 with Miles being the sole kickoff return man and Stanback blocking.

People are talking about keeping 6 WRs like it's some kind of strange phenomenon. Not in today's NFL.

Let's look just at the Parcells years.

2003...We carried 6.

Cedric James, Reggie Swinton, Terry Glenn, Joey Galloway, Zuriel Smith, & Antonio Bryant

2004...We carried 7.

Terrence Copper, Keyshawn Johnson, Patrick Crayton, Terry Glenn, Dedric Ward, Antonio Bryant, & Randall Williams

2005...We carried 6.

Terrence Copper, Keyshawn Johnson, Peerless Price, Patrick Crayton, Terry Glenn, & Jamaica Rector

2006...We carried 5.

Miles Austin, Sam Hurd, Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, & Patrick Crayton

Assuming that 6 is out of the question is ludicrous.

I think there is only one clown saying that there is no way we keep 6

yet he was not willing to wager you on it.

No way Thompson beats out McFadden or Barber... The cowboys will be drafting an elite running back next year if if McFadden is gone and that's a fact, Jack....

Yeah, I noticed.

I did see 2 people however who think 6 is unlikely. I guess since we only used 5 last year.

Ridiculous.

Did you just say that Tyson Thompson does not have good enough lateral movement to be a kick off returner, but has enough to be the starting running back?

I think there is very little difference between Thompson and Austin returning kick offs. Both get going straight up the field and may make one or two people miss, but neither is going to pull off some dynamic return like a Dante Hall or Devon Hester. Austin's return in the playoffs was a pretty straight line run back with good blocking. It bears out in their return averages being very close.

The one that can step up their game at another position will help their cause. Tyson has a slight edge only because he has been around longer and played in the regular season. And I do mean slight.

Austin made a good play at downing the ball on a McBriar punt at the 5 yard line. He just caught the ball. That kind of thing did not happen very often last year. Too many of McBriars punts bounced into the end zone because there was no one there to down it in the field of play.

Hostile.... We might keep 6 receivers but where would you go light... I wouldn't skimp on offensive line with two gimpy tackles so we probably keep 10 minimum... I also wouldn't skimp on defensive line or linebackers because defense wins championships.... You might go with just 1 fullback but my guess is Cowboys don't...

Best bet would be for 5 receivers and maybe 1 slipped on the practice squad.

When TC started... I was sure that we were keeping 6. Now, i am not so sure. I can see scenerios that we only keep 5. It really comes down to who will contribute more.. the # 6 wr or the 8th DB or # 4 TE or whatever it is. For once in a long time, we have a lot of talent on this team.

I think that since our 2 starters are getting up in age and one is a health risk in TG, that might favor keeping 6 WR. But I can see some situations that we only keep 5 and go deeper in another spot, if that player will contribute more than the #6 WR.

There probably will be 1 or 2 receivers on the practice squad. They won't be Hurd, Austin or Stanback. Those three will either be on the roster or cut. If cut I don't see any clearing waivers and Dallas able to get them on the PS.

With 53 roster spots I don't see any need to go light anywhere.

QB...3
RB...3
FB...1
WR...6
TE...3
OL...9

That's 25 on Offense.

CB...6
S...4
OLB...4
ILB...4
DE...4
NT...3

That's 25 on Defense even with an extra NT.

K...1
P...1
LS...1

That's 53.

What's so hard about this? Want both Kickers? :puke:

Okay, go with 2 NTs, 2 TEs, or 2 QBs.

i'll say it again.....i watched Rabb the last few years here in Boise, and he's a good, instictive wr, that goes all out and has amazing hands and smarts.

reminds me of Hurd....both have the same type of skill set.

He's been my dark horse to make the team ever since we gave him a $25,000 bonus (more than anyone we signed after the draft).

just watch for #11.

So you are keeping Austin over Cricket?

It could happen. I don't see us keeping 2 FBs. Cricket could be on the PS.

In the which WR gets cut conversation, when do we bring up Terry Glenn's health. I know WP has down played his knee but I wouldn't be comfortable he'll play 16 games. With his history alone we know he won't. 6 WR's is a lock as far as I'm concerned. Unless Urban has hidden defensive ST, kick or punt return skills, I'd keep Austin.

Very valid points.
