Copper is not a good receiver. He is good at special teams. He has had plenty of playing time in New Orleans due to various injuries to other players and really has not been that impressive. He has dropped several passes, fumbled a couple of balls and just does not look that good. He did have an impressive TD catch on a Hail Mary before half time in one game, but other than that his bright shiny moments are few and far between.

Hurd, Austin and Stanback all have something to prove and Dallas will need at least one of them to step up their game to be part of the future starters.
As far as the drops are concerned, I think you may have confused Copper with Devery Henderson. Henderson had more drops. Other than a couple of fumbles at mid season last year, Copper was pretty steady and reliable.

Of course, I wouldn't want to have to start Copper and I'd rather have Crayton as the 3rd WR. But I'd take Copper over most of the Cowboys WRs who are deeper on the depth chart than Crayton (the exception: Stanback).

People can point and counterpoint all day long on Miles Austin regarding what the cameras showed or didn't or what he did or didn't do in practice. I don't think its ludicrous to believe that he could be on the bubble. I don't know which way it will fall but I won't be shocked either way.

TO, Glenn & Crayton are clearly 1, 2 & 3. I think its likely that Stanback is on protected status for a year as long as he reasonably stays in the fight which so far he is doing just that. Hurd was more productive last year, and this far is again this year.

Doesn't that leave Austin as #6 as perhaps his best case scenario (barring injury).

Even though I firmly believe we'll keep 6 WR's it still sounds like Austin is on the bubble to me.

Great post.

Why do we get so tied to a guy at the churn spots on the roster?

Hostile.... We might keep 6 receivers but where would you go light... I wouldn't skimp on offensive line with two gimpy tackles so we probably keep 10 minimum... I also wouldn't skimp on defensive line or linebackers because defense wins championships.... You might go with just 1 fullback but my guess is Cowboys don't...

Best bet would be for 5 receivers and maybe 1 slipped on the practice squad.
Hos is all for ditching the kickers. All of them. :D
