Rey Maualuga

I repeat... Rey Maualuga

Give me Roy Williams as a free agent and Maualuga in the draft, and I won't even ask for anything else. :D

I hear ya...depending on how this year unfolds, who is coming back, who we pick up via FA, and who is an injury concern....I'd have to think about packaging a bunch of our picks to move up and get Maualuga or Laurinaitis. We'd still have The comp picks that couldn't be traded to play with.

I know, I'm insane, but I can't shake the thought of having a mean *** rangy ILB to pair with Ware and Spencer for the next 5-10 years.

I love James, I thought he was just terrific last year and answered all his critics in fantastic fashion. Does he have weaknesses, you betcha, but he's worked hard to improve on those. Meanwhile he's a play maker in the running game and his intangibles are off the chart.

When detractors talk about players like James and Ellis they forget to mention their top tier leadership skills. Simply put championship teams have championship locker rooms which are headed by championship leaders. Bradie James is one of the elite leaders on this team who always put team 1st, has an attitude that is second to none and is a heck of a player on the field to boot.

We are lucky to have him here in Dallas.

I completely feel you on this. Dallas needs more hostility and intimidation in the front 7. Maualuga and alll his nastiness would put this LB corps on another level.

ILB, OL & OLB (can't have enough pass rushers) would be my priorities for the 2009 draft.

I fully expect the WR position to be taken care of in FA or someone already on the roster stepping up.

FYI, while I prefer Maualuga, I think Brian Cushing will be as good or better than Laurinitis. Cushing, if he can stay healthy, is what everyone hoped Carpenter would be (super versatile_can play inside and out, good in coverage & a very good pass rusher).

Well when you run a 3-4 defense you better draft some good LB's but I think they'll look in the 2nd and 3rd rounds....

As a 49er fan who has had to put up with people actually defending Derek Smith, the worst linebacker in the history of football, I'm quite amused by the fact that many Cowboys fans see Bradie James as nothing special.

You guys have it the way it should be. Bradie had an excellent season last year--in reviewing the games from last year, I have to this point only seen one play where he really screwed up--week 16 against the Panthers when Ratliff had him perfectly protected from blockers, holding the double team, and he had a clean shot on DeAngelo Williams and just flat-out missed the tackle, resulting in a 29 yard run.

Other than that, he was terrific versus the run, making numerous plays around the line of scrimmage.

He's obviously a guy with very limited long range speed which makes him a liability in coverage, but that really shouldn't be a huge factor.

If I were you guys, though, I'd be prepared for James to become invisible this season with the addition of Zach Thomas--in Wade's defense, he funnels ball carriers to his weak inside linebacker, which will now be Thomas. This makes the SILB essentially irrelevant. It's the reason Akin Ayodele was invisible last year.

Everything was going pretty good until this last part. Akin Ayodele was the weak ILB.

And unlike the current 49er fans, Cowboy fans prefer not to settle.

Well, Cushing would certainly be a better option for the grammatically challenged on this forum.

So Cushing is 6-3, 255, played at a big time college program and is from Jersey?

Sorry guys, looks like we're out of luck. He'll have a fish on his hat next year. ;)
