Marshall and Jones still talking
Cowboys cornerback Adam Pacman Jones is downplaying the war of words between him and Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall.
However, Marshall is not ready to back down and promises more on Thursday.
It all started when Jones was asked following the morning practice how Marshall compared to Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens. Marshall is called T.O. Jr. by those in Denver.
Jones said Marshall was no T.O. Not only was Terrell Owens better than Marshall but Jones said Owens was 10 times faster.
Marshall responded by coming to the afternoon practice with "21 is No Champ" taped on his shoulder pads.
He was referring to Broncos all-pro cornerback Champ Bailey.
Jones laughed it all off after practice.
"I saw what he had on his shoulder pads," Jones said. "It was all in fun.
That's my boy...I'm sure he is going to call me tonight or I'm going to call him. I like competing. That's what this is about."
Marshall, however, was not about to let it go.
He said he caught five of six passes on Jones.
“And the other one I just dropped the ball,” Marshall said.“Probably toward the end of practice he said, Dang, man, I just seen what you wrote.’ I said, ‘Boy, you slow.’"
Marshall, who talks about himself as well as Owens, continued:
“Like I said last year, football to me is like Pop Warner – halftime, Pop Tarts and Kool Aid. And all Im doing out here is having fun. I mean't what I said. I’m pretty sure he meant what he said. Tomorrow’s another day to go out there and compete. And like I said, ‘He’s no Champ.’"
Marshall who says he knows Jones because they both are from Atlanta.
When asked if Jones can cover him, Marshall responded: “Absolutely not.”
"I got a good one for him tomorrow – a really good one that’s going to be on my back tomorrow, a nice little saying,” Marshall said.
