I would rather have Roy Williams for the following reasons.

1. He's younger.
2. He would be cheaper, IMO
3. I think he would be a better fit for our team.
With the money being thrown around, I doubt Roy W would be that much cheaper.

I am still holding out hope. Whatever the case, I really hope the plan is not to go into the 2008 season with Crayton at #2. If trading away one of our firsts for Roy Williams gets him, let's do it.

Wide receivers typically don't make an impact in their rookie year, so this need is not going to get solved for 2008 in the draft.

Did anyone really think Moss was leaving NE?

That is the best place for him.

Last I heard was that the Lions wanted more than a late one. Maybe Jerry offered them a first and they said they wanted both?

All the good WRs are now gone in FA, outside of Walker with his injury question mark. It is looking more and more likely that Detroit and Arizona are going to keep Fitz and Roy.

That leaves us with the draft.

agreed Roy i hope he ends up here but he is gonna want and probably get just as much Randy and for more years. i doubt he is traded though because they will probably do everything they can to try and resign him so we would have to hope he doesnt and wait till next off-season.

as for moss it sucks but not unexpected. we would have had the most dominant offense this league had ever seen and with what the Pats just did that would have been scary but well it was too crazy i guess. hopefully we at least drived up the price on him so NE had to pay more for him...

i hate Crayton so much... he costs us a chance to win a playoff game so i probably wont ever like him again or cheer for him unless he wins us a playoff game next year. we would be making a huge mistake not getting an impact WR for our offense

Moss would make sense because he would add a different dimension to our offense. I don't see WR Roy Williams a good fit here because he's a solid posession receiver. We need a WR that can really stretch the field. I'm calling it now. Dallas will draft WR Devin Thomas from Michigan State. He's a big, fast and physical WR that can step in and do some good damage.

I'm with you on Devin Thomas, I believe he will be the steal of the draft when it comes to WRs, and I believe he will be a WR that will be able to step right in as a rookie and be a major contributor.

Hes also hurt all the time, would require draft picks and wants $8million a year.

I am still baffled why people would rather do that and not pay for Moss who is never hurt would cost about the same and would require no draft picks to obtain.

Oh and not to mention we could get him next year on the open market.

Moss was never going to come here, his agent used the threat of him "visiting" other teams as a scare tatic against the Pats and they blinked.

Plus, do you really think TO and Moss on the same team is a good idea?
I agree it might have caused problems in the locker room to have both those guys, but as a fan of another team in the division, it would make me breathe a sigh of relief not to have to face both 81s twice a year. Especially since I worry about our CBs.

No doubt man. Did Thomas do any punt returning at Michigan State? That would only add to his value. I really think Dallas is going to go with this guy. They showed interest at the combine and he'll go in that late 1st round range..

I think this was staged, just to give teams like Dallas and Philly hope that they could land the best receiver in the NFL.

MOSS, PATS CLOSE, OR ARE THEY?

There's a report tonight from Adam Schefter of NFL Network that the Patriots and receiver Randy Moss are close to a deal.

Per Schefter, the Patriots have an offer on the table that would make Moss one of the highest-paid receivers in the league, and it's sounding more and more as if a deal will get done.

But if that's the case, why hasn't Moss already signed the deal? Clearly, Moss is trying to get other teams interested. And, coincidentally, this new report could tend to scare them off.

Indeed, a cynical person might conclude that the report was funneled to Schefter from the upper echelon of the Patriots organization with one objective in mind -- to short-circuit the market for Moss before it ever heats up.

Fortunately, we don't know any cynical people.

Wow, that seems a little steep for a plus 30 receiver, even if he is one of the best ever.

FINALLY! Like Moss was really going anywhere but NE. Now we turn our attention to Javon Walker and/or the draft
