Comparing T.O. to the Playmaker

Wade Phillips made sure to mention Michael Irvin during his press conference this morning.

Assistant coaches Jason Garrett and Wade Wilson talked about the Playmaker during last night's team meeting. Phillips said their stories put into perspective what a hard worker and fiery leader the new Hall of Famer was for the Cowboys' Super Bowl teams.

Philadelphia Inquirer columnist David Aldridge asked Phillips if T.O. has any of those kind of leadership qualities.

"He's certainly an outstanding receiver and a hard worker," Phillips said.

Coach Wade, as T.O. calls the new boss, might just have forgotten to mention what a wonderful teammate No. 81 is.

Even Irvin knows T.O. is the better receiver -- he said it himself.

Although comparing the two is like apples to oranges, Irvin and Terrell are both two great receivers in their own rights.

Thanks for the memories #88.

Irvin had better hands in traffic......T.O. has the speed......both are big and strong and one day BOTH will be part of the hall of fame.

T.o has more talent than Irvin. You cannot deny that

But

As a complete football player

Irvin is the winner

T.O may have the talent but he doesn't have the skills

88>81.

Irvin's intangibles were off the charts, despite the off the field issues. TO is probably the more talented and gifted athlete, but he's not the warrior Mike was. Hopefully this changes, but I don't think TO loves football and winning and his TEAMMATES like Michael did. That's what separates the two.

Yeah, please. Physically Owens might be more gifted than Irvin. But as a teammate and leader, Owens can't hold Irvin's Jockstrap.

Only blemish to Irvin has been his off the field incidents, if not he was sure fire 1st ballot hall of famer.

Irvin is more humble than folks realize.

If Irvin had Owens' physical gifts he'd have eclipsed Jerry Rice.

If Owens had Michael Irvin's tenacity and dedication to team - he'd do same.

They're BOTH great receivers in their own right - but my vote goes to Irvin... really not that close, either. And none of it due to "lifetime Cowboy" consideration - so don't bring THAT smack fellas.

Michael Irvin could have posted huge numbers on just about any other team but he played alongside a HOF RB and outstanding TE...

Both great WR's in their own right.

Irvin was more team.

TO is more team that some give him credit for.

There is not crime in individuality within the team concept.

Even Bill Parcells said you have to win your individual battles in order to help the team. TO takes great pride in winning his battles.
