I always wondered how we would've fared in the 1996 NFC Championship at Lambeau had we gotten past Carolina. Even though Green Bay had homefield that year, I wonder if Favre would've been able to exercise those demons, ala Steve Young in 94? Or would the fact that he had to go through Dallas again get in his head? I always felt Green Bay had an easy road not having to go through their nemesis to win the Super Bowl that season.

Steve Young didn't exorcise demons in 1994. We exorcised them for him. We were down 21 points in that game the second we got off the airplane. Early turnovers killed us, and we never caught up.

Favre was having a good year in 1996. I remember that they actually wanted Dallas at Lambeau. I think they would have won that game. He and the Packers blew the doors off the Cowboys the following season, when stakes were lower.

Few teams have contained him... and Zero have done it in the dome this year. @ Home - QB Rat 118.1, 21 TD's, 2 INT's Avg 288y/g

Romo has played very well on the road... so you gotta say it could be a coin flop and QB play WILL NOT be the deciding factor in the game.

Games always come down to QB play, and the matchups on the o and d lines. They both depend on each other.

The matchup I LOVE in this game is Ware, Ratliff, and Spencer versus the Vikings o-line.

Ask Drew Brees and McNabb about how their QB play was impacted by the Dallas d-line.

it's been pretty weird the past few days seeing Viking fans joining the board and defending Brett Favre. who would've thought that would ever happen.

I do believe we'll beat him on Sunday and I do believe it could very well be the loss that finally sends him to the end. He can't possibly believe he'll comeback and have as good, or better, a year individually then he has this year. I'm sure when he loses to us it's going to sting, and mostly because I do believe we'll pressure him into playing pretty poorly, but I've got to believe he'll look back at the year as a whole, from his individual stand point, to the Vikings winning the division, to beating the Packers twice, and say to himself "It's been a good run."

I think we do send him into permanent retirement on Sunday afternoon.

If you want to argue the talent of the two QBs is a push then ok. However, this game will hinge on how well we limit Favre and that will be determined primarily by pressure and sacks. So the QB play will likely not be equal although we could have a shootout. I think we lose a shootout.

Favre loves the game. That's what keeps him in the NFL. That and his continued unbelievable talent. He will not quit as long as he can play at his current level. Losing to a very good ball club esp if he plays well enough will not discourage him in the least. And they can sack him ten times and he'll just get up each time determined to win. He's a warrior.

Respect.

2007-11-29 Dallas Cowboys Loss 27 37 Away 64,167 Mike McCarthy B.Favre

The guy is 2-9 against us. He has only won against weak Dallas teams. Are you saying the Cowboys in '97 and '04 were as good as the team we have now?

You know most of those games were >10 years ago, right?

I'm sure it's been said already, but few things could make me happier than the Cowboys ending Brett Favre's career.

why? He's hella fun to watch. Me, as a real football fan, I love seeing truly great players on the field. And whatever you think of Favre, you are dim witted if you don't see him as one of the greats.

Brett Favre vs. Cowboys in home games (home for Favre, that is):
Record: 2-0
QB Rating: 115.4
Completion %: 70.3

I don't think the words "always" and "chokes" mean what you think they mean.

they were outdoors and against 6-10 Cowboys teams. This ain't no 6-10 Cowboy team

Of course he's one of the all-time great quarterbacks. I just dislike the way he's handled his 2 or 3 (can't remember) retirements. He really put Green Bay in some difficult positions, and it pains me to see teams bend over backwards to please him.

Edit: Just to be clear, I do commend him for wanting to go out on top. However, joining the Vikings just to stick it to his former team makes me *facepalm*.

96 Packers were paper champions. They never beat us that year. We beat them on a Monday night.
