Don't forget, we also have Steve Octavien. There is a chance he could get some snaps. He's super active and he will be big on special teams if nothing else.

Who knows? Maybe he'll do something.

I love that guy

in the very few moments that I saw him on special teams, he impressed me greatly

I remember one specific kick coverage where the runner tried to shield himself behind one of his blockers, and Steve just took the blocker on, blew him up, but unfortunately, the returner just missed his grasp

And because people probably have no clue, here are some numbers on Stewart:

3yr starter in Atlanta. Got a decent deal as a free agent when he signed with Cleveland.

Averaged over 70 tackles a yr as a starter in Atlanta, two of which were with Wade as DC.

Had 5 passes defensed, 7 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 25 tackles for loss in those 3yrs as a starter

Knows this system, he's also a smart guy. Went to Vandy, decent size at 6'3, 240...can play ILB or OLB. Good special teamer while he was in Atl.

Had some sort of injury a couple yrs ago and hasnt played since.

I'm w/ you dbair, Stewart is a quality backup

Why are some of you acting like this signing is supposed to be a big deal? Anyone with common sense should realize he was brought in for depth & S/T purposes, not to be an "impact" player! You guys act like he's being plugged into the starting lineup or something! If you all wiped the tears from your eyes due to all the crying & whining you'd realize this...

they'd rather we hinge our hopes at ILB on a rookie

We signed Matt Stewart a LB picked by Atlanta in the 4th round in 2001. He is 6'3" and played for 4 seasons with the Falcons. He spent 3 seasons with the Browns. He was cut at the final cut from the Cardinals in 2008. He was out of football for all of 2008. It appears to be a 1yr deal no terms have been disclosed. I saw this on the NFL network site 3/3/2009. I hope he can tackle
