Lets see. Virtually every newspaper and magazine is losing circulation. Have been for years. So is this crap really selling them?

Wow.

Here in Hattiesburg, we had a group of people in the mortgage industry get in trouble for the same exact thing. Loan Officers, Wholesale Account Executives, Appraisers, and Lawyers all went to jail. That was the industry I was working in as an Account Executive and I knew a lot of the people who got arrested.

It is amazing that they even thought they could get away with it.

Sad for Lockhart.

What exactly transpired in these scams? Can u give examples?

I just can't figure out why people risk so much for excess money.

Sure, money is good to have, but is it really worth spending your life in prison? :bang2:

Greedy people suck.

I think that at times, in the case of ex-pro jocks, they don't realize what they really are risking. I've read accounts that claim for some (not all) the perceived privileged life of an athlete seduces them into thinking the rules don't apply to them either conciously or subconciously.

Like with Plaxico. I think if he'd really known the potential consequences of his actions he wouldn't have taken his loaded pistol in with him that night would he? I think the easy judgment is extreme stupidity. But I suspect in some cases it doesn't tell the whle story.

Was that the case with Eugene? I have no idea.

In Jeff Pearlman's book, the topic of Lockhart's financial mentality is mentioned.

Lockhart ran the Cowboys "Hoopsters" group after Drew Pearson. Quoting former teammates, the book talks about Lockhart turning what was an off-season, fund-raising group into a big business venture. Quoting former players, Lockhart is painted as a money-grubbing ******.

Seems about right.

Why is he listed as "Ex-Cowboy" when his final years was as a Patriot? Shouldn't he be listed as "Ex-Patriot"?

Because it was published on a Dallas-based publication.

Shouldn't have published it then. Cowboys get enough crap over former players breaking the law.

It's news when a former professional athlete faces possible prison time.

He was one of the few ex-Cowboys that hung out at the stadium and sold autographs. While it was surely an easy money effort for hiim, it was still nice for fans to be able to talk to him.

I work out at the same gym on Preston and 635 with Eugene fairly often.

Noticed he was absent this week.

Sucks to hear this. May not be that he was intentionally doing anything.
He has held a lot of charitable events and stuff. Good all-around guy. Do not think he is a crook so let's please withhold judgment til we find out more info.

Then let a Boston-based publisher do it.
