Cowboys lagging in Pro Bowl voting

And here we thought the Cowboys were America's Team.

Not so much. Minnesota and New Orleans are running away with the fans' vote so far on NFL.com for the Pro Bowl. DeMarcus Ware is the only Cowboy to lead at his position, with 262,457 votes at outside linebacker.

The second-best Cowboy vote-getter in terms of where he stands in the voting is Sam Hurd as a special teamer. Jay Ratliff is not among the top five voters at defensive tackle. Neither is Tony Romo at quarterback. Neither is Leonard Davis at guard.

Miles Austin is third at wide receiver, but tight end Jason Witten, center Andre Gurode, fullback Deon Anderson, kicker Nick Folk, free safety Ken Hamlin and left tackle Flozell Adams are fourth at their respective positions.

Strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh is fifth, so is inside linebacker Keith Brooking ... and for some reason Allen Rossum as a returner.

Voting on NFL.com runs through Dec. 21 and counts as a third of the vote. The teams will be announced on Dec. 29 and the game is Jan. 31, 2010 at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida between the conference title games and Super Bowl XLIV.

Allen Rossum being in there as a returner tells you all you need to know about the Pro Bowl fan voting - bunch of bull**** and I don't care about it.

I used to want every Cowboy in the Pro Bowl. But now I would just like to see Ware and maybe Ratliff make it. I think keeping the other guys hungry is the way to go.

I don't want to see any of the Cowboys players playing in the pro bowl this year.

I dont want any cowboys players to worry about pro bowl voting yet, like bradie james was a few years back,

I generally vote but i havent yet this year, i want to see what the cowboys are going to do in the next 2 to 3 games this year. Then, I will vote, but right now I saw Witten, Ratliff, Ware and Brooking to vote for so far, the other players have to earn it.

I'd like to say Witten but it seems like he has been faltering some this year. He doesn't seem to be at the level he was the last few years. I think it has to do with defenses being able to key more on him because, well, let's not go there but, you get the point.

You make a good point with Brooking as well.

yep with teams doubling on witten more and with no sure fire impact wr that teams totally fear, its harder for witten to make an impact;

but i got your point, knew what you meant;

Good, it would be fine with me if we had zero pro bowlers. I'd like them to be pissed because they feel disrespected and want to prove everyone wrong.

Like the ex-patriots player being interviewed about Belichek's game planning against the Cowboys: He said Belichek focused the defense on stopping Witten, saying that was the key to stopping Dallas. I just think that other teams have taken that as gospel.

Of course, as last game showed, even with a serious foot injury, he can still do it!

I think maybe five or six Cowboys are likely to get in.

I mean honestly it seems about right.

Brooking and Ratliff would be fair to go I think, and Miles if he keeps up his pace. But other than that we have a really balanced team in terms of stats atm, not a whole lot of our players are sticking out like in years past.

Buehler should go just to be the kick off specialist though.

Ratliff not being in the pro-bowl after the year he is having currently would be criminal, but oh well. I'm casting my yearly vote for Larry Allen as usual.:laugh1:

Ratliff and Brooking not toward the top of the voting proves it's like voting for prom queen.

Just for some fyi, but in 1991 when we made our first playoff run, I believe only 4 Cowboys made the probowl. Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt and Novacek.

In 1992 when we won our 1st super bowl, I believe the total was only 6, and none were defensive players from the leagues best defense.
