“Depth of course is a no brainer, but to add power, firepower to it, would be if any place would be to improve our playmaking ability on defense and pressure that quarterback or have an opportunity to do something special. Really, you named it there at linebacker, but I don’t want to isolate. Again, a top pick is expendable this year for me to add to somebody that meaningfully, would be pretty obvious, help us now, and we would have the right kind of spot on our team for it. I’m not just looking for a player, we’re looking for somebody that can add to the mix.”

How can the guy who traded Parsons complain about needing to get pressure on the QB?

When was the last time Jerry made a big trade that had a huge positive impact? (Can we count the Parsons trade yet? We still don’t know it’s long term effect)

He likes to be known as a big “gambler” but he hasn’t been that guy since Stephen started exerting his influence.

What have been Jerry’s “big trades” of the last decade?

• 2025 The Micah Parsons Trade - Parsons to GB for two #1 picks. Looks good so far but we still need to see what it reaps long term.
• 2018 - Amari Cooper Trade - acquired Cooper from the raiders for #1 pick. Was a good trade in the short run by getting the team back on track to the playoffs in 2018, but nothing after. Got a 5th round pick for him in return on 2021.

There have been a lot of cheaper trades like the Trey Lance, Jonathan Mingo trades. Which were bad.

Can we be confident we don’t get fleeced or it has big impact?

Since trading Parsons destroyed last year I think we can rule that out.

I’m typically critical of the team for thinking ahead too much in an attempt to avoid a down year, but I think hanging on to the first rounder that doesn’t have to go to the Jets is a vital move, especially if they have little intention or expectation of signing Pickens long term.

I’m all for going for it within certain windows, but I’d have a tough time dealing a first for a rusher, limiting the snaps of who we already spent a first and a second on, then them saying they are out on Pickens because of that player…..then they can’t replace him immediately either because they’ve already dealt their best asset.

I would really not trade for Crosby. I don’t want or need stars, rather have a unit that complements each other. Let’s at least see what they look like before anything rash is done.

I also think Jerry said that to appease fans. I mean, where was this aggressiveness when MM was here and another move or two could have been the difference?

The only thinking they do is about the salary cap. And they haven't figured that out yet.

No I mentioned the Parsons trade (and all we got from that) in the first paragraph as a possible good trade. I can’t count that as good or bad yet because we don’t know what that has translated to yet.

So far, we are 7-9-1 and no playoff wins after that trade. Hopefully it turns into multiple playoff wins. We just don’t know yet.

They certainly do. But as I said above we have yet to see the impact of the Quinnen Williams trade. He hasn’t even played a full season for us yet. I think he will be excellent for us in time.

But I tend to judge trades by their impact on our bottom line - winning playoff games. Time will tell.

Pickens WAS a steal IF we have him long enough to have some playoff success. He was great last year statistically for sure but we had a losing season and didn’t make the playoffs. Not his fault of course.

If GP is gone after this season it will be a good trade if it translated to playoff wins or garnered some good draft capital. Even one playoff win would be great. We will see.

Von Miller in FA and hope he stays healthy isn't a bad idea.

They also are the kings of misevaluation, so they think they can win now, plus be fine cap-wise later because they are billionaires and therefore a smarter class of society in any walk of it.

Because usually those players don’t lay down on a trainers table during a game. They’re usually in the game.

No, it just makes me think we will be able to sack the opposing quarterback and effectively passblock the opposing pass rushers to protect our quarterback.

I don't think the current position holders are capable of doing these jobs for a full season. If even half of one.

Just my opinion.

Not a hard concept to grasp really. Get me a proven productive edge and a proven left tackle as mentioned and my opinion changes towards how ultimately successful this team can be.

So trades are only good if we win playoff games? How about making trades to improve your team? Pickens helped the offense but we need better players on defense. Many players are needed to win a playoff game and one trade by itself won’t help that unless you already have a good team.
