The Cowboys put waivers claims on three players. Surprisingly, none of them were cornerbacks.

When the Cowboys were awarded Marvin White, they rescinded claims on a couple of players cut by the Jaguars: RB Chauncey Washington and LB Tim Shaw.

Running back is obviously not a position of need for the Cowboys, so it's probably safe to assume that special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis spoke highly of Washington after coaching him last season in Jacksonville. The same probably goes for Shaw, although the Cowboys are thin at linebacker, especially inside.

Two players cut by the Cowboys had waiver claims put on them. Rookie safety DeAngelo Smith went to Cleveland. Carolina rescinded their claim on DE Derreck Robertson after they were awarded another player.

thats a good sign, only 1 of the Boys roster cuts is claimed... by a powerhouse like the Browns. The Practice squad should be loaded!

Looks like they were looking for STs and White ended up the best available.

And how do you feel now that Stanback and Willingham were signed by a powerhouse like the Patriots?? Do you feel kind of ignorant??

I think Shaw may still be coming. He wasn't claimed by anyone else.

Sensabaugh says Washington was a very good special teamer who had some big hits on kickoffs.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I don't think either will show up until the injury situation improves or worsens.

if stanback is just asked to work the middle of the field and run "routes"....that do not require the ability to really run "routes"....he would be fine. Catch the ball...use your size to run after the catch.....but he is simply not a natural route runner...and never will be any good lining up outside. Line him up in the slot and tell him to sit down in the middle of the field....that is about all he is good for.

Didn't we just focus a whole draft on getting special teams players?

Like it or not, that is still our focus because even those we did focus on got hurt.

You think he's so stupid he can't learn? His problem is staying healthy enough to be able to practice and learn. That's not saying he'll ever amt to anything. Just saying he can learn to run routes better.

"learning" to run the route...and being a natural route runner is TWO different things....Olgetree is a undrafted free agent and he already knows how to run routes better than Stanback....it is not about learning....it is about the natural ability to get in and out of breaks....the natural ability to conceal from the CB when you are stopping, starting, going left, going right....he is not a WR....period. Sure they have been guys who convert....but take Hines Ward....he is just a football playing dude...toguh, makes tough catches....blocks....he is not fast...not a great route runner....he makes plays....Stanback is simpley a great athlete with no position

What if there is a Tashard Choice trade in the works and thats why we picked up Washington?

Just speculating obviously.

No dice. I wondered the same thing. But I spoke with Bryan Broaddus. Says Washington was all about special teams and was third option behind White and Shaw.
