What if there is a Tashard Choice trade in the works and thats why we picked up Washington?

Just speculating obviously.

Why would we trade Choice? I don't think that's going to happen. I've been wrong before, but I can see us trading MB3 before we trade Choice. He's the real deal Holyfield. Sure, he may not be a bruiser, but he's a different type of running back.

And how do you feel now that Stanback and Willingham were signed by a powerhouse like the Patriots?? Do you feel kind of ignorant??

Hmmmm. no response from Mont... guess he's hoping that everybody will just forget his latest knee-jerk hysterical overreaction...

"learning" to run the route...and being a natural route runner is TWO different things....Olgetree is a undrafted free agent and he already knows how to run routes better than Stanback....it is not about learning....it is about the natural ability to get in and out of breaks.

It has nothig to do with smarts or instincts, it has to do with repititions. As Michael Irvin said after he worked out with Stanback last year ... the kid just needs reps. Irvin said by the time he was Stanback's age he had ran the same routes thousands of times in college and pro practices against defensive backs. That's what "instincts" are ... programming something into muscle memory through countless repititions so that it appears effortless and instinctual. Stanback has hardly ever had any repetitions running routes because he played quarterback in college and he can't stay healthy in the pros long enough to get any work in. Even as a rookie Ogletree has probably had thousands more reps running routes than Stanback has.

That said, no one can blame the Cowboys for not waiting around anymore on Stanback ... Stanback was beaten out of his spot fair and square, and the Cowboys have to allocate roster spots elsewhere, especially if they have to carry 3 QBs, 2 place kickers, 2 back up swing tackles and an entire rookie class of special teams players.

did you not read Stanbacks comments yesterday? The guy pretty much admits he is NOT a WR! Why is that so hard for YOU to accpet?

Days ago, people were ready to string Stanback up by his neck.

Now he gets signed by the Patriots (to their practice squad no less), people think there is some sort of validation, one way or the other. Either we screwed up by picking him, playing him at WR or even by cutting him loose.

This just in--the Patriots make mistakes too.

Stanback wasn't going to cut it here. As a WR, Utility Player or even QB as he maintains he is. He's not going to be pushing Tom Brady any time soon either.

He is what he is. A developmental player. An athlete that no matter what will need refinement and there is a very strong chance he'll never come around.

Did he get a fair shot here? I believe he did. We were infinitely patient with his injuries.

As for the idea that it just takes time for a QB to learn WR, take a look at the Patriots' own Julian Edelman. He was a QB not long ago but looked like a natural for them this preseason doing more in three games than Stanback did for us in three years. Could it be them and their system? Perhaps, but it could just as likely be he simply doesn't have it upstairs, whether it be attitude (wanting to play WR versus pining away for QB) or capacity to handle the mental aspect of the position.

Please give it a rest. He's gone. We blew the choice. It wouldn't be the first time or the last.

For example Kevin O'Connell.. But they figured out he couldn't play in one year..

I was surprised to see the pickup of the RB, but who knows...
Supposedly Washington was a special teams coverage type first and also returned kickoffs for the Jaguars. It is likely that is what we were looking at him for, not as a trade situation with Choice or a kickoff player. It looks like we really just were looking for another special teams body and DeCamillis remembered both him and Tim Shaw.
