DMN: Blog: Cowboys talking to Kyle Boller

Honestly I'm not a fan of Boller. He has never shown me much of anything when he played for Baltimore so i don't know that he can show much here if he has to play. I know he's a better option than Brad but that doesn't really say much, honestly.

I'm in this boat. Boller is a joke.

alot of you have incredibly unrealistic expectations of what we can get for a backup QB

if you can get an under 30 guy who has decent physical skills and has started for a few yrs, thats a plus...your backup is almost never a guy thats as good as your starter...

Boller or Grossman wouldnt be worldbeaters, but both guys are clear upgrades as a backup QB over what we've had.

Grossman has more playoff wins than any QB we've put out there since Aikman, and he helped get a mediocre Bears team (especially offensively) to a super bowl.

No. Not at all. I live in the Baltimore area and have seen plenty of his games. The guy has all the physical tools, but I don't think he has the head for the game. Throw in the injury and I think he is a joke. Rex is a better option by far IMO. Also, we need to try drafting and grooming our own QB.

I'd much rather have Rex Grossman.

Same here. Yea, he has his faults, but at least he has taken a team to the Super Bowl. Remember, we're looking for a backup, not a starter, and I think Grossman is the best available.

At this point, Jason Garrett would be an upgrade over Brad Johnson. I'm just happy to hear the Cowboys interested in a backup QB with only a few skins on the wall. Just having a former 1st rounder as backup should give Romo more motivation if he needed any, let alone if we also add one in the draft.

Or we could get a former Super Bowl-winning quarterback. I hear there's one now on the market.

Boller was thrown to the wolves on a pretty bad offensive team. He has a great arm. He's very interesting to me. And has good size as well.

His throwing motion is atrocious. Only BJ could make this guy look palatable in comparison, and that's the mistake fans are making.

shut up with your realistic analysis. that clearly is no longer welcome on this board

Brian Brohm and Chad Henne were drafted in the 2nd round last year. I believe that Henne was Pennington's backup last year. Brohm was the #3 in Green Bay, after having lost the #2 to another rookie QB (Flynn).

Maybe it is time to draft a QB early and simply run with him as your backup.

The awesome part of that is that by the time he's any good, he's a free agent

He diddnt take them to that Super Bowl, that defense did. By that logic we should have kept Johnson because BJ diddnt forget what team he was on during the biggest game of the season and actually has a ring.

Grossman is a midgit clown, he would fit right in with the losers in somewhere like Detroit.

You guys think freaking Boller or a mid round rookie is going to give extra motivation to Romo???

HAAAAAAABAAAAAHAAAAAA!!!!

Yea, I am sure Romo and his $67 million dollar contract is going to be looking over his shoulder at Boller and a rook. Do you know how bad Romo would have to play before Wade had the balls to pull Romo in a game or bench him after a game???

Romo freaking blew off Wade during the Philly game and started drawing up his own plays in the dirt and then threw the coaching staff under the bus in the post game presser and Wade said JACK about it.

In fact, Jerry agreed with Romo and said the organization (meaning the coaches) needed to be more "Romo-friendly".

Romo is untouchable and the coaching staff knows it.
