I remember him saying that too. However, a lot has changed in the NFL since he said that. Anything that keeps defenses guessing and takes up practice time when they are getting ready to play Dallas would be a good thing IMO.

If teams like New England, Pitt, etc. are putting the wildcat in... then it isn't that they have to have it to win (like Troy said 15 years ago)... it is that Belichick and the others think that it is a good idea and will help them win games.

That is a very good point.

I concede.

How did I forget that one and remember Crayton? DOH!

Old School. Remember the fake punt when Dexter Coakley broke off a huge run? Or when kicker Tim Sedar took a direct snap and danced into the endzone?

What an embarrassment.

Devoid of ideas, our 2nd rate coaching staff is actually resorting to gimmicks. Pathetic.

What's next? Jerry and Wade reviewing Harlem Globetrotter footage?

Yes! Do you remember when Brucey didn't have a play on fourth down? Another Campo era classic. ;)

I do remember that.

Talk about an embarassment. I still can't believe he said that. :bang2:

Cowboys should have drafted Casey, or some other guy who can successfully threaten the D as a wildcat QB (Stanback, if he can stay healthy maybe). Crayton scares no one as the wildcat QB, no one.

He was never known for accuracy as a passer, and he is nothing special as a runner.

I am glad they are trying to be creative.

But I just cannot help but remember what Troy said about gadget plays.

He said teams use that on offense when they do not think they can beat the other guy .... that is why they never needed any.

:laugh2: There is a little bit of truth to that. Jimmy only used them on Special Teams.

Yea but if you really think about it. Play action and draws could also be considered gadget plays or plays intended to fool the other team. The 90’s Cowboys were built on running and play action. I also remember Deion running a reverse for a TD in the playoffs. So the Cowboys used them too.

My question is...why now are we doing the WildCat??? Now that every D-fense Coordinator has had all season to figure out how to stop it. And why does it seem like they are giving Felix “busy” work to just get him on the field. Get him in the offense, he will make something happen.

Because it gives Felix a lot of open field opportunities where he is most dangerous.

I think if we had a young, backup QB, Casey would have been the choice

but since we didn't, they decided to go with McGee instead

I think it was very close that Casey was going to be a Cowboy

I thought so initially, but the Cowboys passed on him at least 5 times in the draft. Maybe they were not as high on the kid as many thought.

In any case it looks like many were right about his position on this team (H-Back / FB), reinforced by Mosley's comment that Bennett was not comfortable out of the backfield.

well if you draft McGee to be the backup for the future, and maybe run the WC, there really is no point in drafting Casey too

seeing that we have McGee, Crayton and Stanback all capable of running it

I hope that was not their excuse for not taking Casey. Other than Crayton, none of those 2 guys are part of the either the base or even trips offense. Putting either in would be a huge tipoff, which is the exact opposite point of running a gimmick play. You want to run it out of the base offense, or at least one of the regular packages.

Casey would have been the starting H-Back and/or FB. And Crayton is no where near the athlete to threaten NFL defenses.

McGee is who I'd love to see running it. I know rookie QB's have a hard time succeeding their first year - but if he only ran some "Razorback" formations, then he'd only have a few plays to learn. He could practice them over and over and over, until he has them down pat.

It would be a great way to get him involved and could end up being quite productive for the team.

I'm sure there are a lot of things to take into consideration... but McGee could be successful in that formation.

at least he would give the D something to think about, if we ever get into blowout games, I'd put McGee in, have him throw some, and run alot, get his confidence up

not only does he get experience, but so do the other players

teams are going to know you're going to run the WC anyways

it's just a matter of whether they're going to run or throw the ball out of it

drafting 2 WC guys is just overkill

i dont understand this crap at all. why put romo in the wr position when everyone knows he wont catch a ball. worse is that a cb will try to knock him down within 5 yards and try to injure him. at least take romo out and put a real wr in that slot. stupid formation
