Patrick Crayton wants to know why so many people are picking Packers

Patrick Crayton saw the picks line in today's paper and noticed that five of eight dudes are predicting a Cowboys win Sunday night. He wants to know why.

"History's not on anybody's side," Crayton said, shooting down the Cowboys' 0-5 record at Lambeau Field as a factor. "That's why it's called history. Because it's done."

My pick in Sunday's paper will be Packers 31, Cowboys 28. The Ice Bowl and all the Cowboys' previous trips to Green Bay didn't influence my thinking. The Cowboys are playing a very good team on the road and coming off an emotional win with a short week to prepare. That's an awfully tough task, so I see this as one of the Cowboys' three or four losses this year.

Crayton, of course, disagrees.

"I'd double down on Sunday," he said.

There are plenty of people at ESPN who would be willing to take his bet. The entire Sunday Countdown panel picked the Packers.

Patrick Crayton gives Aaron Rodgers some props

That wasn't the case back in training camp, when talkative WR Patrick Crayton said Aaron Rodgers was "shaken" from the Brett Favre soap opera and urged Green Bay to boot Favre.

Crayton implied that Rodgers wouldn't perform as well as he did against the Cowboys last season once teams got some film on him. Well, Rodgers has proved the doubters wrong while leading the Packers to a 2-0 start.

"He's playing damn good right now," Crayton said. "And it helps that he's got some veterans around him. They're not asking him to win games for them. But when they're asking him to go out there and make certain throws, he's making them and taking care of the ball."

Crayton did make sure to mention that the Cowboys' defense has some film of Rodgers now, though.

I'm kind of getting usedto Crayton being our unoffcial spokesman, as long as he doesn't drop easy passes or stop running his route early.

He didn't quit on that route.

What's the funny is that the title of the article has absolutely nothing to do with the article until you get to the point where you tell him, before the game, that his team is going to lose. What exactly do you expect him to say? He didn't say anything about caring who picked who, he said history doesn't matter (and the history is we beat them last year) so he's saying last years win doesn't mean anything.

His indecision caused hesitation, just as bad.

Not at all. It was an ad lib and he and Tony weren't on exactly the same page. The half second cost us a touchdown, but that's not on either player and not nearly as bad as quitting on a route.

Crayton should mind his history, then. The Super Bowl teams of the 70s and 90s never won at Lambeau, so this version of the Cowboys needs to walk before squawking.

I think the Packers just got lucky that when we went to Lambeau we had a poor team. we only went there once i believe with a team that finished above .500

Yah, well we have a QB that grew up in Wisconsin and I like to think he can handle the atmosphere in that stadium, which of course seems to be everyone's deciding factor other than mine. If you ask me, other than Texas stadium Green Bay should probably his 2nd favorite stadium to play in and he's at the controls of our offense. Cowboys 38, Packers 17. A beating it will be. We take the run away from Green Bay because they will have to play catch up and then they will become1 dimensional. My only concern is that Anthony Spencer is not playing and Newman needs to start against Jennings. Everything else we have an answer for defensively and I don't think they have all the answers for us defensively, plain and simple.

Every week we are afraid of teams, it's getting ridiculous. I know we have a tough schedule and everyone of our opponents deserves respect as they are good teams so far but get a grip everyone. We do have the best team in the league and we haven't even rached our potential yet. Our Defense will showup this week. Philly was a good wake up for them and McNabb can play with anyone again. He was the reason Philly was moving the ball as well our errors. We win.

Predictions by the players are silly. Crayton doesn't know who will have a good game or bad game. What if the team plays well, but he drops the game winner? It's just bulletin board material.

He dropped a pass once last season and isn't named Owens.

Cratyon has the advantage of seeing how crisp team practices are leading up to the game. That might count for something and is certainly more than all of the media experts who are picking against us have to go on.

And again, he played against this team last year. Again, doesn't count for everything, but he knows a heck of a lot more than most.

They only played the Packers once when they were at a Superbowl level. Aside from the Icebowl, none of those Cowboys teams were even playoff level during the year they played/lost to the Packers. Per Mickey Spagnola, here those teams records the four other times they lost in Green Bay:

1-15, 6-10, 6-10, 0-11-1

This is easily the best team that has gone into GreenBay since that Icebowl game.

I like it that everybody else is picked to win.
That way when we beat them we look twice as good.

This might be the first time we're playing there when it isn't freezing. I think we're due for a win up there.

amen brother.............every week everyone is freaking out that we should be afraid of a team.............if we are the best (and we are) then we shouldnt worry about losing......I think alot of people are still in denial that we finally have a great team again that they are afraid to believe for fear of getting let down.......FACT---we will lose some games this year ...so what..... as long as it isnt in playoffs..........

I personally fear no team right now...i think we are much better than any team in the league..........yes we have some problems here and there and yes if injury hits we could be in trouble.........but this goes for EVERY team in NFL...........

I believe that we go to Green Bay and hammer them ..............then we can go ahead and listen to everyone fear the Skins next week..............

Couldn't have elaborated any better than you my friend. We are the toast of the league. We are already dealing with injuries and will continue to play at a high level. People don't understand we are dealing with injuries already. As long as Romo, Owens, Witten and Ware stay healthy we have the depth to deal with injuries like our current. We are the toast of the league folks, get used to it. We will lose some regular season games, understand that.

If there was any thought of us having a let down after the Monday Night game, I think we can thank the so called "experts" for not picking the Boys. I have a feeling Crayton isnt the only one who noticed who they are picking and expect the boys to send the Packers another message.
