Cricket didn't go through some torturous season, though... He was put on IR after what, the sixth or seventh game of the year? And he barely even played before that. So I don't think he's eating junk now to get over the rigors of a game he last played seven months ago.

it's youthful folly

yeah, anderson got too heavy this winter after his injury. but a word of advice to everyone who thinks they know this kid -- especially when it comes to his weight room work ethic: check out the videos of him at defrancostraining.com.

defranco is the guy who trained anderson before he joined the cowboys; he trains lots of nfl'ers (he also trained miles austin, by the way) as well as other very serious athletes. this is a guy who spends his time with extremely strong, extremely committed young men. defranco absolutely fawns over anderson's strength and all-out effort in the gym, and he touts him as the guy who kept everybody going during hellish workouts.

Deon has to be the most respected, and feared, college football player that I have ever trained. Besides his football accolades, he has been a tremendous asset to my program. I’ve never had a kid bring more positive energy into my gym than Deon. His energy & intensity is contagious and every athlete in the gym feeds off of him. He has also turned out to be a great “student” and he’s picking up the techniques to the Combine tests very well.

Speaking of long-standing records - Deon capped off his stay with us in style by breaking THE longest standing record on our record board (Box squat, College Male, over 220 lb. division). Deon crushed 635 lbs. to break the old record of 630 lbs. set by his old college teammate, Brian Markowski.

...so here's a guess, folks: even at 20 pounds overweight, deon anderson was in better shape than just about everybody on this board.

and here's another: no matter how anderson gained the weight, he lost it because he's a beast in the gym... and he'll be quite a load at the fullback position for our team.
