SOrry, but frankly I do not consider Woody a HOF guy. He was very good for about 6-7 years. He was maybe one of the top 3 Safeties in the game for a few years- but to me that is not enough.
I can see the arguement about Drew Pearson since it is absolutely true that if Stallworth and Swann get in he should too. BUT leaving that out I do not believe he deserves to get in.
Cliff Harris has a better case then Woody.
Howley, Hayes are absolute travesties not being in.
Harvey Martin is slightly less of a travesty but in the ball park.

6 or 7?!! That boy was great his entire career, and Jimmy said that he should have started Woodson his first year. Woodson could and did it all on the field. He was the complete player. You could almost make a complete team up of Darren Woodsons. Also, number of probowls is no true indicator of talent or production, players get cheated every year. Sometimes the dirty work doesn't get noticed, and he did plenty of that. Heck, he was so good, he was able to hide how bad Roy W. was!!!

Who of Woody's peers at SS (or any safety) was better than he was in his prime?

I think Darren was probably the best during his era, because of his versatility (covering slot receivers) and his leadership.

But there are two reasons why he went to only five Pro Bowls -- LeRoy Butler and John Lynch. They edged him in voting a few times.

Is it fair? No, but it happens.

Much like Roy is taking someone else's Pro Bowl spot.

nope, does not deserve HOF, was not even a starter on 2 of the SB teams, though he was a great player for us, was a solid tackler, but never made many big plays... he could cover most WRz, but again just never made big plays....

It is absolutely ridiculous that Cliff Harris isn't in the HOF, but Woody deserves it as well. He is a SS that was versiltile enough that he could still play exceptionally in today's pass happy NFL.

Former Packers general manager Ron Wolf thinks so. Here's what Wolf told Sports Illustrated's Dr. Z about Woodson in a column about Hall of Fame candidates.
"Played a unique position for the Cowboys. Did everything a safetyman had to do, strongside or weak. Hell of a special teamer, too. Yes, a terrific player, a Hall of Famer."
Woodson, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time Super Bowl champ who holds the franchise tackles record, darn sure deserves to be in the Ring of Honor. Perhaps he could join Drew Pearson and Charles Haley in the first class to be inducted at JerryWorld.

yes he does!!

I don't think he has enough service time to get into the HOF. I think it is possible. And I think had he played for a successful Cowboys team into his later years he would be a shoe in. But unfortunately there are people picking the HOF players who don't know how well Woodson played even on dismal teams. Swan et al had the SBs and the team was very successful while they were in the NFL. So they benefit.

Hayes isn't in because there is an obvious bias against him and probably the Boys as well. He wasn't forgiven like LT was. It is a travesty but.....

Howley is the best player of all those mentioned and it is a travesty he is not in the HOF either. A truly remarkable player who did play on successful teams. I don't get it here.

I think Harris and Waters would be in if we had won at least one of those Pittsburg games. They should be in anyway. But....

Martin is not far behind being as great as Deacon Jones and was as good as many others who are in the HOF. Don't get this one either.

He's getting in mainly because he has three rings. Book it.

I hope you're right.

But as stupid as it is, I bet if you asked most of the fools who vote on these things, they'd tell you that John Lynch was a better player.
