Miles Austin leads the Cowboys with 36 catches for 524 yard in six games, but he also leads the team in drops with four, according to STATS Inc.

Only four players in the NFL have more: Philadelphia tight end Brent Celek and Minnesota wide receiver Randy Moss have six apiece. St. Louis wide outs Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson have five apiece. Austin is one of 12 players with four drops.

"It's nothing that I want to do, I can promise you that," Austin said. "The only thing I can do is get extra catches in. It's a lack of concentration right before the ball comes. I've tried to think about what I'm thinking about right before and every time it's obviously not the ball. Whatever that thing you're thinking about before, you need to think about the ball. You've got to look it in."

Austin said the issue sometimes has been attempting to turn up the field before securing the reception.

Two days after declaring Jon Kitna was just as capable as Tony Romo, the Cowboys wide receiver didn't waver from his remarks.

"I am very excited for him to get his opportunity to play," Williams said. "I know he can play. I have seen it with my own eyes. He's a heckuva player."

Williams expressed confidence that Kitna could help resurrect a season teetering on the brink of calamity.

"We are going to rally behind him and mess around and get some wins and be in the hunt of this thing," Williams said. "He will be the next savior of this place."

I take no issue with Roy talking up Kitna. In fact, I encourage it. What's the worst that could happen at this point?

Roy needs to cut the Kitna crap already.

Why what do u want him 2 say "Kitna sucks we're gonna go lose all the games just face it guys we have no chance"

What's he supposed to say?

He only had the best season of his career with the guy, obviously he thinks Kitna can play.

He said the other day that Kitna was just as good as Romo.

I am kindof excited to see what Kitna can do. That excitement will probably evaporate after about 4 straight 3 and outs against the Jags, lol.

Why? That's exactly what I want to hear. He's showing confidence in our QB who he has played with and gone to battle with. What crap are you talking about? I hear support for Kitna, not sure what you hear. Kitna isn't Romo but he's a vet and he's been around. He has a strong arm, he's rugged, he's confident, he's knows the system, and he believes he can win. I'm anxious to see him go to work and who knows, he just may bring something to this team. That's no knock on Romo, Romo is our QB and he's darn good but he's out. I hope the rest of the team feels like RW11 does....

That there is going to be a dropoff but they'll get by. You don't say your backup who was never good in his prime is as good as the franchise QB, ever. Especially when it's idiotic and untrue.

well see RW's think this 06 all over again

Kitna to Roy

so hes hoping he will see the ball more

already gettin in Kitnas ear hole

but we have Dez now roy an he can do your job much better than you ever could

Dropoff? Dude we're 1-5, how much more can we dropoff. BTW, Kitna has done very well in the league.

So if say, Miles got injured, and Romo said it's no big deal because Sam Hurd is just as good, you'd have no issue with it? And I mean a dropoff at the position.

First Roy lied, but thats what they need 2 do is lie u don't take the confidence from the guy before he plays

Come on man let it go Roy said the right thing

Saying your backup is just as good as your star franchise QB is not the right thing and the media attention (and there's been a ton of it) proves that. Roy's just saying it because he knows he's just became the #1 receiver for 6 weeks.

Hurd has done NOTHING in the league at the WR position. Kitna has done plenty and has skins on the wall. Romo wouldn't say that cause it would be a stupid thing to say... C'mon dude, really!!!

How about NOT saying "He's just as good as Romo and he doesn't play favorites" which is moronic ("just as good?!") and implies Romo has favorites and doesn't do what he should as a QB. Maybe saying something like "John is a good QB and I think he'll do a great job - he brings good experience and has played at a high level in this league". How do you guys not see the issues with his comments? Roy is a diva who makes his comments in a way where it's not SO obvious, but he gets his whiney digs in. Remember him talking about the passes that he gets thrown to him compared to the other receivers? How about running better routes last year Roy? He did this year and amazingly Romo's passes were "on target". The guy is just annoying.
