Ellis led this team in sacks every year by default, he never was a special player - or someone teams had to gameplan for.

the only reason Ellis is so vocal is because Dallas does not YET have an alternative to him. As soon as Spencer gets a few sacks and people see there isn't a huge drop off with Specer....the weekly Ellis chatter to the media will disappear.

You would think it would disappear, but it won't.
in Ellis' mind he's a premier defensive talent and deserves close to what the top 5 DEs/LBs command. he really thinks he's still a leader, still a force (never was) and young and healthy.
His only alternative is to retire and spare himself the indignity of sitting on the bench and everybody talking about Ware/Spencer/Canty/Spears/Carp but not him.

An average 5th grader could comprehend that with very little difficulty.

Yeah - but this is Tim McMahon we're talking about.

I'll say it again. He's going to retire. The injury he sustained is BRUTAL and made all the worse given his age. Ellis will not play another down IMO.

Doesn't help that he has everyone saying, oh man you're not gonna be the same.

I heard the miracles of modern medicine can heal injuries like this.

I think someone here told me so.
