DMN Blog: Ellis in pads; Glenn scoped; McBriar needs shoe

Please reply if you can ship McBriar a size-9 1/2 Nike Vapor K for his right foot. Don't worry about the left. "Any old shoe will do on the left foot," said McBriar, who wears an 11 1/2 in his street shoes but believes he packs more power by crushing his toes on game days.

OUCH!

Banned in many states now but Kangaroo leather is great for athletic shoes, particluarly for rugby and futbol (aka Soccer)...Night and day feel from leather.

Long term? What long term? TG is ancient. I'd try and bring him back, myself.

33 isn't ancient and last I checked, Glenn had no problems getting open when healthy so longterm for this guy means he should be playing for another 3 years at least...Longerterm, he is looking at Bill Walton like knees if it isn't addressed properly and that figures far more prominently in the scheme of things than making it back this season.

I have serious doubts Ellis will be effective at all, actually I think he will be a liability. Hope he proves me wrong though.

This defense gave up 35 points we could use all the help we can get.

Glad to hear glenn might be back. Hold him out until he is 100% ready. No need to rush.

Longterm problems are an issue but this is his last shot. And really, how far away from bionic legs are we? Tops....maybe 10 years he would have to wait before he could just have that entire leg taken off and the hip and replaced with a Robocop leg.

Glenn trying to come back
Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn wants to come back this season. That's why he elected to have arthroscopic right knee surgery Thursday morning in Columbus, Ohio by Ohio State's team orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Christopher Kaeding was trusted by Glenn, who attended Ohio State.

Glenn had torn cartilage removed and may still need micro-fracture surgery in the future. This operation gives him a chance of returning this season. There is no timetable on his return.

Glenn has surgery
Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday in attempt to return to the team this season.

The surgery might allow him to return in three to four weeks, but it could also leave him vulnerable to a more potentially damaging injury.

Glenn had surgery on Aug. 1 to remove a cyst and repair loose cartiliage in his knee. He returned to practice for one day on Sept. 6, but hasn't returned.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a season long deal with ellis. Even if he plays this week who knows how effective he'll be. I almost wish he would sit out another month and then go from there. He's important but I think we'll be OK with spencer. Newman is the one we're gonna struggle without.

He'll probably get one of these in the future

Newman actually practiced in the Nickle today.

Ellis practiced too, but Wade downplayed the possibility that Greg would be a gametime decision. It was weird cause usually he says 'If they're there, they're there.' Maybe one or both will be there this weekend.

Help is the key word.

True and we will find out once Ellis returns if he can still do the job. If he can then he can help this team.

Wow, McBriar's feet must really hurt after the game, going down 2 shoe sizes. Someone needs to get him a connection with Nike. Get on the phone Jerry. Heck, check out ebay!

Great news on Ellis. The deeper the rotation the better. We don't need Spencer wearing down to early in the season.

Uhhhh he meant what was good for TERRY GLEN long term not the Cowboys. As in TG's quality of life for the REST OF HIS LIFE "long term". Not the Cowboys "long term". Some folks actually care about these players beyond the current season. Just because you don't.... Does not mean others don't.

I for one will feel bad to see TG crippled and hobbling around in 10 years like Earl Cambell and many others for making this decision. I would like to see him walk away from this game on both legs. His well being LONG TERM is far more important then this Cowboy season should be to him. And that was pretty clear in the post you quoted.

I think we will do fine with Crayton, Hurd and Miles. I wish Terry would of just walked away from the game. We need him but not at that cost. The Cowboys will do just fine without him.

I wouldn't admit that I had an expensive 9.5 soccer shoe hanging around my house, even if I did have it.
