Roy Williams speaks, sort of

With the change in practice schedule, it kind of messed up the open locker room period. Roy Williams normally speaks on Wednesdays but with meetings at 2:15 p.m. and a brief time to grab lunch, he did not hold his normal session.

He did answer three questions before heading to the lunch room.

On how does it feel to be back - "It's all the same. Nothing's changed."

On his bruised ribs - "It's all the same. Ain't nothing changed."

On if he's excited to be back - "I'm excited. There's only 1,696 of us that get to play this game so every week is a good week."

Garrett's assessment of Roy Williams

Roy Williams has been here for a year now. What are the impressions of offensive coordinator Jason Garrett?

"He's a guy who's a big, strong receiver who catches the ball well, catches the ball in traffic,'' Garrett said. "He's a very good route runner. You see him win the underneath stuff. You see him win down the field, you see him be really efficient on the intermediate type things. It's just a matter of continuing to get him involved andi fitting in the different pieces of the puzzle we have on offense.''

Williams has caught 11 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown this season.

"I think he's played well,'' Garrett said. "We haven't always hit on the opportunities we've had with him. There have been times he's been open when, for whatever reason, we haven't been able to get him in the ball.

"I think when players see that on tape they say, 'hey, there are chances here. I just need to keep focused and keep working on my part of the execution and things are going to come.' I think Roy feels that way.''

He can jump up and catch the football? Well damn....I haven't even seen us try to attack that aspect of his game. I would like to see more jump balls with Bennett and Roy. They're the biggest guys on the field most games.

He's under-utilized. Even with the weapons we have on this team. Roy Williams is definetly UNDER - UTILIZED.

There's NO question about it.

How true. RW does suck.

So, can anyone venture a guess as to why RW is an automatic starter opposite (presumably Miles Austin)?

Crayfish, who I have never been overwhelmed by, at least has been working every week and contributing (more than RW). Ogle deserves a chance in prime time. Heck, I'd even start Hurd ahead of RW.

What has RW done to make himself a starter?

Anyone? Anyone?

Its called Jerry's foolish pride. Theres no way in hell he would admit a mistake at this point. With what he gave to get him and what he's paying him, Im afraid we're stuck with him.

Wow. Interesting that Garrett would specifically compliment RW's route running.

maybe if Romo actually threw him the ball we could find out how good he is. he looked pretty good with Kitna throwing him the ball whem they played for Detroit of all teams. maybe we really do have a TR problem.

Nah. I never buy the argument that our coaches lie outright re: players. There's enough there that he's not saying about RW, ex. how elusive he is, or complimenting his downfield speed. The fact that he's specifically complimenting the player on route running, when Aikman and Irvin have publicly criticized him for it in the past, is interesting.

Tony and Kitna, too, were talking about how well he runs the sluggo route in Tampa. I bet we see a lot more slants out of RW as the season wears on.

By complementing RW's route running, his ability to get open, and to catch the ball, and by saying that for whatever reason we have not gotten him more involoved, this really is a passive-aggressive shot at Tony Romo. Whaile I agree that it really is up to Romo to execute the pass to RW when he gets free, I don't like how the coach is so quick to implicitly throw Romo under the bus. That's partly why this offense lacks continuiity; nobody trusts the OC.

Of course they don't trust him. All last year the WRs were complaining, especially how they were being used and Garrett didn't adjust at all. Crayton was saying prior to the Chiefs game they shouldn't have abandoned the run.

My impression is the report from Archer speaks volumes. Roy was rather short and to the point. The media doesn't like that. I like Archer a lot and he's almost always professional enough to just report what he gets and then if he makes an opinion, he doesn't let the guys who will talk to him and those who won't cloud his thinking.

But it's obvious that Mr. Blue Suit doesn't like Roy's act with the media and of course the 'sense of entitlement' column comes out.

One of those 'I knew it, I knew it, I knew it' type of scenarios.

Mr. Blue Suit = A complete joke.

RW has been productive in the past. He is still a relatively young receiverwho has produced on the field.

I would ask you, on the other hand, what you think opgletree has done to deserve a shot. The only thing I have seen him do is fumble the ball in the one opportunity he got.

NO! It's a Roy Williams problem way before it gets to Tony. Even I won't disrespect Romo like that.
