Have you noticed how many times we have to repeat draft picks every three or four years at certain positions because they just don't turn out?

That's why I was more than happy to give up a first and a third for a pro-bowl talented WR like Roy 11.

yea haven't drafted a decent Safety since RW we should have drafted Weddle sp?

do you mean, as in a backup FS, a backup SS, a starting FS, or a starting SS? i think and hope that Roy and Hamlin will be back..

Yea I know they are coming back however in times of injuries like to RW we should have a semi credible back up. While Watkins was playing he wasn't tearing it up exactly. I really don't want to see Brown on the field for us ever again....so we should go saftety I'm not saying we do it early but 5th round sounds about right.

Yeah, only WR is one of the positions we've had a hard time drafting.

Linebacker, Safety, and O-line are.

To be fair, the pundits seem to forget how WR is one of the toughest positions to scout.

They're no different from QBs-it too takes them alot of time to learn a new NFL system. They too have to learn how to read the blitz, run routes according to them, read defenses, and such.

With that being said-I find it odd how it's the CRAPPY teams who end up scouting WR in the draft the best.

Teams with weak scouting dept. Make poor draft picks The Cowboys haven't drafted a QB or a WR who has made the probowl in like 15 years! How many other teams can say that?

Umm...yet they've found an undrafted QB who has made two pro-bowls. They also found several receivers in late rounds that have been solid contributors, and one or two that have been very productive...especially considering where they were drafted.

How many teams can say that?

Our draft mistakes were a product of Jerry's ego and his need to appear as a wheeler and dealer. I think our scouting department is pretty solid.

I wanted Shawne Merriman over DeMarcus Ware bad. I know longer feel that way.

Guys like Canty, Ratliff, Burnett, Witten, Deon Anderson, Patrick Crayton, and Jason Hatcher were all found after Round 2.

I do agree with the idea that we should have drafted AND should still draft a QB to develop. I still like the potential of Austin and Stanback so now that we have Roy, I know longer feel the need to draft a WR.

IMO our draft needs are:

NT- I really feel we need a massive, run-stuffing NT. I also really like Ratliff as a defensive end.

ILB - Zach is nearing the end of his career, Burnett is a free agent, and Carpenter has struggled to make an impression. This could be a very big need for us.

OL - I think we need to start thinking about the future here. I'd also like to
see a guard capable of challenging Kosier.

S - If Roy can turn things around these next 10 games then we are good here. If we cut him (and his massive salary), they may try moving Hamlin to Strong Safety and Anthony Henry to Free Safety. We need to draft a safety with enough speed to cover deep, not just a big hitter.

QB - not desperate but if someone slips we should consider spending the high draft pick. Otherwise, draft someone in lower rounds with potential to develop.

OLB - Ellis may be playing his last year in Dallas. I'm content with Ware and Spencer but you can never have enough pass rushers.

DE - If we lose Canty to free agency this becomes a bigger need.

CB - minimal
WR - minimal
P - minimal
TE - not at all
RB - not at all
K - not at all

I think we need a NT, and move Ratliff to DE. Also, we definitely will need one, if not two, ILBs. Plus we probably need another Safety.

On offense, I'd like to see us draft another OT plus a QB to challenge Bollenger.
