Jerry Jones gave Wade Phillips the game ball

Jerry Jones stood in the Cowboys' locker room in St. Louis last week and gave Wade Phillips the dreaded vote of confidence.

Jerry stood in the Cowboys' locker room in Irving today and gave Phillips the game ball.

That might have been a first for Jerry. He couldn't recall for sure, but handing the game ball to his head coach after a win is certainly rare.

"Wade Phillips did his job today," said Jerry, who praised Phillips "gutsy" calls and shrewd psychological moves. "Today was a big victory for this team. It gives us a chance to stay in the hunt of where we want to be at the end of the year."

Wade deserves it. He rallied the team in it's darkest hour while everyone in Dallas was taking turns kicking them, and his unit saved the season single handed.

Well deserved. Bask in it tonight, forget it tomorrow as you prepare for the Giants. As long as Wade does not let his players rest on their laurels, they need to keep this momentum going into New York next week.

Lose against next week and the wagon wheels come off again.

Yep, wasnt a pretty win but it was just what the doctored ordered. Even if we lose vs the Giants next week we still have a shot at making the playoffs. That is about all we can ask for at this point in the season.

I completely disagree. A win next week would be beautiful, but a loss doesn't kill us.

After last week's game it looked like 4-5 would be the likely record until Romo comes back. Today's win ensures that no matter what happens next Sunday, we'll have a shot at the postseason once Romo comes back.

Wade Phillips deserves alot of credit.

However, it will be interesting to see how this defense plays against one of the better QBs in the league.

Lol. The idea of this is just funny.

The owner giving an award to the head coach in front of the team. "Gee whiz thanks Mr. Jones!" :laugh2:

I found the "Wade Phillips did his job today" quote kind of weird. But I'm sure Jerry didn't mean for it to sound that way.

This was a great psychological move by Jerry also. Now Wade will feel better about this team and his job status and get out there and get after folks.

I thought Wade was very aggressive in his defensive play calling all the way. Garcia had plenty of pressure, his inexperienced secondary played exceptionally, in my eyes, Wade deserves credit, since last week I blasted him.

Next weeks a different story. :)

This team cannot afford to think like this. They need to be staring at the precipice and play like it. The offense probably does not get much better until Romo gets back. The defense played extremely well today, but they can play even better, especially on third and long. The D has to learn to win games by itself, that is a playoff mentality. The D has to carry this team while Romo is out.

A close loss against the Eli and co. may be a moral victory (I HATE those) but a blow out against the Giants could be devastating to this team.

other than Henry, our D was very impressive. ignore Henry and I give our D an A.....with Henry we get a B.

I have been a fan of Henry, but he looks old and slow out there. He gives 15 yard cushion off the snap, even in short yardage situations. He just doesn't have it anymore.....I wonder if he is playing injured.

Our red zone defense was awesome today.
