Barnum never said that quote.
Then I did. If he doesn't want credit for it, I'll take it. It is generally attributed to him.

Geez this doesn't sound good. I feel like they're going to be pressured to try to keep the guy who wins this on the team.

So why did Tank Johnson make this team last year? Why is Bobby Carpenter on the team? Why wasn't Roy Williams cut sooner? etc.

Get a grip on reality bro, this is another publicity grab. The winner of this show will get some media attention and if he completely bombs, the Cowboys will have egg on their face. This guy's going to get all the leeway in the world to survive cuts and maybe even make the team. It sucks because I'd bet the tiniest tip of my pinky, that he won't be worthy of it.

I love the circus. Clowns, balloons, fun for all.

Lions and tigers and bears...oh my.

I don't know who the sucker is in this case. Jerry if he really thinks the guy from 4th and Long can make it, and make a difference, or those who view that clip and think it is anything but posturing for the cameras. It better be posturing, because I don't see a need to add Rudy to the roster.

agree with your point, but as a former rudy, I just can't help but root for the guy.

or jerry learned his lesson from hard knocks and the guy has turned a corner.

Nothing he has done this off season has been jerry as usual.

he is too smart to keep making the same mistakes, the guy is a billionaire for a reason.

Nothing wrong with that.

I was a Bill Bates supporter his entire 15 year improbable career. He turned my head as an UDFA rookie in that year's pre-season and he never let me down. Every year was supposed to be his last and he kept coming back for more.

PT Barnum said "there's a sucker born every minute."

yeah but sometimes you have to get lucky;
sometimes luck changes things;
like cowboys found cornell greene, cliff harris, mark tuneii, bill bates, everson walls, and tony romo;

i like the holley kid; not saying he is good, but he seems to have some fire want too

thats what this team needs is a player with some fire, want to, intensity, heart

nope he didnt say that hostile, here is the person that said it;

"There's a sucker born every minute" is a phrase often credited to P.T. Barnum (1810 – 1891), an American showman. It is generally taken to mean that there are (and always will be) a lot of gullible people in the world.

When Barnum's biographer tried to track down when Barnum had uttered this phrase, all of Barnum's friends and acquaintances told him it was out of character. Barnum's credo was more along the lines of "there's a customer born every minute" — he wanted to find ways to draw new customers in all the time because competition was fierce and people could become bored easily.

While some sources claim the quote is most likely from famous con-man Joseph ("Paper Collar Joe") Bessimer,[1] it was actually uttered by David Hannum, spoken in reference to Barnum's part in the Cardiff Giant hoax. Hannum, who was exhibiting the "original" giant and had unsuccessfully sued Barnum for exhibiting a copy and claiming it was the original, was referring to the crowds continuing to pay to see Barnum's exhibit even after both it and the original had been proven to be fakes.

Who said it was Holley? I thought the tiny 5'7" dude made it. Holley is like 6'3". I hope it is Holley though, he has nice size, and heart.

So our focus is on this statement:

WoodysGirl;2793962 said:
I'm not sure how Cowboys fans will feel when they hear the Cowboys owner/general manager tell Irvin, "I know they can come in and make a difference in us winning a championship and having a great team."

But not this one?:

WoodysGirl;2793962 said:
Finally, Jones tells Irvin, "You guys could really be something special for the future success of the Dallas Cowboys."

I fail to understand why some people get so dramatic about anything Jerry Jones says. He's the king of hyperbole. And often you have to take in everything he says to get what he really thinks.

Let's wait until he crowns the winner after training camp as the key to the future for Dallas. If that happens, unless somehow it's well deserved, then we can knock Jones for being a buffoon.
