JJT: Cowboys have a roster full of players with something to prove

Last year's Cowboys were fat and happy when training camp began. This year's team has a roster full of players with something to prove.

That should make you feel better about your Cowboys. You can go here to see what I'm talking about.

The Cowboys have a roster full of players with something to prove

These Cowboys have an abundance of players with something to prove.
If silencing their detractors - real or perceived - makes the players on this team a little more focused, a little more committed and a little persistent, then so be it.

Think about it.

You know Romo wants to prove he can win games in December and the postseason. Roy Williams wants to prove he's an elite receiver. Miles Austin and Patrick Crayton want to prove they're each capable of being playmakers.

Tashard Choice wants to prove his performance last December was no fluke, Marion Barber wants to prove he can produce as a starter and Felix Jones wants to prove he can stay healthy after toe and hamstring injuries ruined his season.

Anthony Spencer wants to prove he's not a bust, especially now that Greg Ellis has played his last game with the Cowboys. Keith Brooking wants to prove he's not washed up and Igor Olshansky wants to prove he's not just a guy.

Bradie James wants to prove he's a Pro Bowler and Marcus Spears, a free agent at the end of the season, wants to prove he deserves a long-term deal. Terence Newman wants to prove he's an elite cornerback, Orlando Scandrick wants to prove he's a starter. So does Mike Jenkins.

Ken Hamlin wants to prove he can play at a Pro Bowl level again and Gerald Sensabaugh wants to prove he's a better player than he showed in Jacksonville last year.

You should feel better about the Cowboys maximizing their potential this season. We know that didn't happen last year.

Every team has something to prove. Even the Steelers-who you can bet-are focusing on showing they can do it again. Fluff piece.

But he said we should feel better. Maybe this year won't be like last year when we all went into the season the uncrowned champions despite an early exit from the playoffs.

These players who supposedly didn't have much to prove last year will just turn it on because they suddenly have personal goals to live up to. Isn't that nice? Maybe we can come up with a nice little catchy slogan to wrap it all up so everyone doesn't forget. Something like "1-2-3-Chip on our shoulder".

I was thinking the same thing !
the Detroit Lions have the most to prove. they also had much to prove last year and that did nothing to help.

I don't want this team thinking ANYTHING. Not the whole-"we are the best, we are going to win" thoughts of last year. Or, "we have something to prove" this year.

As an entire unit, just shut up and play.

Who was fat?

The OL? :laugh2:

What do they have left to prove? Outside of Leonard Davis actually proving he's solid at RG and Columbo proving he's solit at RT, Flozell Adams proved he can't handle speed rushers; Holland proved he's slow to learn a playbook. Proctor proved he's only a backup center at best, Kossier proved us all wrong about his worth, but has yet to prove that he can come back healthy; and Andre Gurode proved he can consitently snap the ball over the QB's head in the shotgun formation.

WOW! Keep it up guys! :D :laugh1: :D

The coaching staff decided that Spencer would get most of Ellis' snaps last year. Let's see. Ellis is coming off a probowl appearance. Spencer TAKES HIS FREAKING SNAPS. Yeah, that's a "bust."

I do think the team will be hungry and have a different mind set this season. I know the piece may be fluf but this team playing with a little attitude is long overdue............they are capable of doing it but I just haven't seen it.

Gerald Sensabaugh wants to prove he's a better player than he showed in Jacksonville last year.

This comment was a little odd. Sensabaugh was a pretty good player last year in Jacksonville. The Jaguars were fully expected to resign him -- or at least try to -- until he got arrested.

I'd say it's much more likely that he wants to prove that he's as good of a player as he was last year. Before last season, he had been only a part-time starter (2005, 2006) or injured (2007).

I think the more accurate comment would be that Sensabaugh wants to prove he deserves the nice mid-range contract he blew this year with his arrest.

That too.

A healthy Hamlin and Sensabaugh will give us the best set of safeties we've had since Roy and Woody. We're going to be a whole hell of a lot more athletic and I expect our secondary to force a lot more turnovers.

Was Hamlin not healthy last year? Is that why he couldn't tackle?
