I think more people are looking at Carps ESPN gig and wondering how the hell he got it. Naturally, people are assuming he spouted off at the mouth in exchange for a seat next to Skippy.

Personally, I don't care who it was. If someone snitching to the media is the straw that broke the camels back on TOs departure, thank god someone snitched.

Thank god TO is gone.

Same goes for Brad because he couldn't play a lick anymore. Same goes for Pacman and Tank cause they were pieces of **** and same goes for Canty for taking the payday and immediately falling in line and opening up the mouth. Screw them all.

The only player I really wish would have returned was Burnett. I like KB and I know he pretty much said Dallas coaching could kiss his *** for not ever letting him start but I really wish he was still around.

If Jerry would cut bait with Ellis, this would probably be one of the more successful offseason in a LONG while. Get rid of all the guys who can't help but be pissed about something and go crying to the media. Free up that cap space and reward Ware. Only thing problem is, I don't see Jerry doing it. Ellis and Adams are the only remaining players from the time when Jerry was running the show. I think he sees those two as a way of saying "well, I wasn't a complete idiot. As long as they continue to play well I can feel alright". Hopefully I am wrong and Jerry tells Ellis to get lost this year and looks real hard for Adams' replacement in the near future.

Back on topic, I really don't care who "snitched". I'm sure whoever it is (if it is even known by the players) has lost some respect in the locker room but that man should get award because he is partly responsible for TO being gone.

I wonder how KB is going to like all of the taxes that Cali is gonna take out of his check. He was to stupid to realize that if he got the same pay in Dallas he would actually make more.

I doubt he's gonna care too much.

He's banking on being able to start there and show the league he has value. If he can do that, he'll be a FA in 2 years at the age of 28 and will be in a much better position to make money than he would have been if he had stayed as a backup in Dallas.

Carpenter has absolutely no reason to snitch. It was an offensive player who was exposed to all of the nutcases antics up close and personal and got tired of the antics and the free reign the organization allowed him... and thank God he did it.
A completely ignored factor in pointing the finger at Carpenter.

Jason Witten took the blame, but it sounds like Brad Johnson was the snitch

Tim MacMahon

We don't know for sure whether Brad Johnson was the infamous "snitch" at Valley Ranch last season.

ESPN's Ed Werder, one of the best reporters covering the NFL, isn't going to reveal his anonymous sources. But the NFL Network's Warren Sapp let the world know that his Super Bowl teammate had badmouthed T.O.

The NFL Network, apparently desperate to fill air time the week after the draft, is showing behind-the-scenes footage of its pregame prep work. That included an episode focused on the week leading up to the Ravens-Cowboys game, which came on the heels of the Tony Romo/T.O./Jason Witten pass-triangle drama.

Noted T.O. apologist Deion Sanders tried to dismiss the story, but Sapp wouldn't let that happen. Deion mentioned that he knows "20 dudes" on the Cowboys, so he was sure he had the story straight.

"So Brad Johnson ain't gonna give me the legits?" Sapp replied, as you can see from the fine YouTube work by blog buddy DCFanatic.

After Deion mumbled something dismissive about Johnson, Sapp added, "Brad (is) right there, dog. Right on ground level."

What did Johnson say to Sapp? The NFL Network show didn't give us that detail. It might have been something like this:
"He's insecure about it. The thing that bothers me more than anything about this problem is that it's always something with him -- San Fran, Philly and here, always something. And he brings other people into it. You know, he talks to Sam Hurd and Roy Williams, who just got here and doesn't really know these guys. T.O. talks to him and so now he probably thinks Witten politics with Tony for the ball.

"That's so far from the truth. You think Tony is throwing to him because that's his buddy? His best buddy is Bobby Carpenter, and that's not helping him too much. It's crazy to think that, and I hate that he acts that way."
That was the quote from an anonymous player in Werder's story that essentially lit the match in the gasoline station that was the Cowboys' locker room. Witten was accused of being the snitch, which didn't make much sense if you read the quote. Witten isn't a third-person kind of guy, and I don't think he be so blunt about Cabo crew member Carpenter.

Why would Johnson say such a thing? Well, let's see ....

*He knew his career was basically over and wanted to vent.

*He was peeved that T.O. threw him under the bus after his stinker of a stint as Romo's fill-in ended. Plus, T.O. probably was a royal pain in his rear.

*Johnson was loyal to Jason Garrett, who lobbied to keep the 40-year-old as the backup QB when the Cowboys were considering other options before the season, and was annoyed that T.O. attacked the play-caller in his carefully orchestrated interview with Deion.

*Perhaps it was the truth and he thought T.O. deserved to get blasted.
T.O. is gone. So is Johnson. So why does this matter to the Cowboys?

There are still a lot of guys in that locker room who are loyal to T.O. Witten has maintained his innocence against the snitching accusations all along, stating that he was too good of a teammate to do such a thing. The NFL Network just helped his case.

UPDATE: Johnson adamantly denies that he was the snitch.

I don't know if Brad did it or not and at this stage I could careless. Dallas has sweeped clean the locker room and it is time for this team to get it together not rehash the past.

Everybody needs to lay of Johnson. So he talked to someone he played with who later was caught on camera making inferences about the conversation on a clip that was never meant to be aired. Big Deal.

If Brad says he's not the snitch, I don't seen any compelling evidence to suggest he's lying. And talking to Sapp about the topic in any way, shape, or form may have been poor judgment, but it doesn't make him a bad guy, and it doesn't make him a fool.

No kidding. This was the weakest connect-the-dots conclusion to begin with. Johnson said a couple of things to a friend and former teammate in Warren Sapp, so therefore he blabbed to Ed Werder? That doesn't make sense. These guys are only human and pretty much all of them say things about their work to their friends and family, just like everyone else.

And what did it hurt for Brad to say this to Sapp anyway? Warren obviously kept quiet about it. This didn't even come out until now, when that season is over and it doesn't matter anymore.

Mike Fisher was on the radio last night talking about this, and he couldn't figure out why anyone on the team would do this on purpose. And he also knows and likes Werder, as they went to college together, and thinks he's too much of a professional to make this up. He thinks this was probably one of those comments made where the player thought it was off the record and Werder thought it was on the record. So it wasn't anyone's fault so much as just a misunderstanding. That can happen sometimes between players and reporters in a casual conversation.

I don't know or care who was the snitch. I'm glad Owens is gone along with all the others we got rid of in this spring cleaning we did.

But for the record I don't think it was Carpenter because he is one of Romo and Witten's closest friends. He is the other guy who is always seen hanging out with them and I believe he went to Cancun with them on the infamous vacation. He had to know that the media circus would cause his buddys a lot of grief. So I don't think that just because he can't seem to play football that he is that kind of person.

As for Brad, I don't think he spoke to Sapp until after the Werder story was out. At that point it didn't matter because it did not add to the drama that already existed. It never mattered until that video was released and Sapp shot off his mouth about who his sourse was on a story that he never reported anyway.

Reason #1 that this year will be no different. Everyone saw B Johnson had nothing left LAST year (2007). The fact he was on the team and gave us 0 chance against the RAMS was 1 loss directly pinned on the coaching staff (i.e. Garrett). Over 2 years, Garrett has shown that he cannot make adjustments. The whole atmosphere of dual HCs (Def - phillips, off - Garrett) along with Wade being a lame duck, Garrett the "annointed" one, etc is more of a fundamental reason for organizational failure than the fact TO called his offensive plan out. (Along with Romo, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis).

TO or no TO, snitch or no snitch, this team has not cleaned up anything from from the top down. If you have uncertainty in the leadership of the organization, team, coaching, you get bottom's up leadership. Who here has confidence ROmo or Ware have the personality of a Ray Lewis, Brady, Manning, Aikman, Irvin, etc to lead them despite the pathetic coaching staff.

Keeping Garrett AND Wade puts the probability of repeating last year much higher than keeping TO. I for one have seen nothing in Garrett to give me confidence about anything. He starts off strong every year, then hits the wall. Hits the wall with a whole lot of talent.

Losing to the RAMS should have cost someone their job that day.

The Circus continues...

The Media wont let it go......Fans and haters wont let it go...

I hope we dont have a stretch of bad games this year......because more excuses will come out....The mediots have their wipping boys.....TO is gone now....Wade is next in line........

btw...Im glad Johnson is gone....he stole money last year and was by far the worst backup QB ive witnessed in a long time.

Concerning Carp....Im tired of hearing his voice....I never heard of a scrub like him be interviewed so much....and I dont know if he is a snitch or what but the guy just talks to much for my liking.

I could see it being Johnson. I could see it being any number of people I guess. This whole thing is silly and hopefully whoever the snitch was is gone because this team doesn't need anymore of that BS this season.

I'd sure like to know what it is that Hos seems to know, though. It seems, from some of his responses, that he's got some good information that would be nice to know.

It was barbie and Sexton.

Sexton? lol. You are so off it's not even funny.

Parcells agent, lol.

You think Bobby Carpenter deals with Sexton because his agency reps him?

That is also Bradie's and Colombo's agent as well. Were they involved too? lol.

I know the people that deal with the players from ARM and it's not Jimmy Sexton.

Stick to hating on Romo.

What station is Mike Fisher working for ? I've been a fan of his since his days at KLIF when he was on at noon ( Fish for lunch ), but I lost track of him.

He's great.

So wait...If Brad Johnson claims he wasn't the snitch, yet doesn't deny that someone snitched altogether, does that still make Ed Werder a hack reporter????
