So far this season Flozell Adams has had to be ready for some premier pass rushers, like Denver's Elvis Dumervil and Justin Tuck of the New York Giants. At times, he has done well. At times he has been beaten.

This week's challenge, John Abraham, will be as tough as any Adams will face this year. Abraham has 3.5 sacks this season and how he goes is generally how the Atlanta defense goes.

The Falcons are 15-5 when Abraham has a multi-sack game. Since 2000 only Miami's Jason Taylor (107.5) has had more sacks than Abraham's 87.5 and he has 22 sacks in his last 22 games.

"John is very dynamic, very explosive," said Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking, Abraham's teammate for three years. "He can jump out at you and have three four sacks in a game. He's a guy when you go into an offensive meeting room that you point that guy out. You've got to know where he is, especially on the money downs, third downs because he can change the game in a heartbeat."

At 6-4, 263 pounds, Abraham is quick off the ball at the snap and he possesses long arms to keep tackles clear of his jersey. He also has some deceiving power. For Adams, he cannot sit back and wait for Abraham because he does not move as well as he once did.

Adams has a team-high seven penalties, including four false start flags. Given the type of speed rushers he faces on a weekly basis, the Cowboys will live with one or two as long as he keeps quarterback Tony Romo clean.

EDGE: Abraham

Flo goes un noticed sometimes, I think he has improved his quickness and that will show Sunday when he dominates this match-up.

Usually it's the 3-4 rush LB's that give Flo a lot of trouble, he should hold JA pretty much in check.

Abraham is basically a 3-4 rush LB. The Jets moved him to OLB back in 2003/2004 I think.

Adams has problems with speed rushers, period. When they have a good inside move like Abraham, that's when Adams struggles.

Abraham is going to have a big game if Garrett is obstinate about passing. OTOH, Abraham can be abused by Adams in the running game, so here's hoping that we exploit that mismatch.

My thoughts exactly.

I love they way people want to downgrade his value and past performance with the old "he's struggled with real good speed rushers".

No ****! What good OT hasn't struggled with good speed rushers from time to time. That's why they're good. They get paid to.

For all the *****ing an moaning on Adams, it's surprising how goods he's been when healthy.

I'm hoping Garret wakes up and start rolling Romo out more. More screens to Felix and Choice. I'm guessing Flo will have hard time handling Abrahams if we just let Romo stand back there. Garret needs to have the defense guessing instead of having them just tee off on Romo.

This matchup is more like: Flo + Witten/Bennett vs. Abraham. No way should we leave Flo on an island against Abraham, unless it's a 3 step drop.

We need to run some screens and draws in his direction too to slow him up a bit. I wouldn't mind seeing a few screens to Felix on his side. Or, how about the TE screen to Bennett that we haven't seen yet this year?

I'm with you. Flo has been pretty solid and not near as bad as most people think.

Yeah, I think I read in one of the articles here that he's been the best lineman on the Cowboys this season despite his penalties.

...who are beginning the downward trajectory of their careers.

Atlanta, like us (Adams) should be thinking about life after Abraham.

Let's hope Adams steps up.Abraham is no Hali in terms of quickness.

The matchup that will decide this game will be

Roddy White VS Terence Newman

Edge: Newman

Dallas will win the game.

I think the matchup to worry about is the Dallas safeties versus the Atlanta receivers. The safety play in Dallas has been horrid so far this year.

I don't think this is a key match up. I believe that Tony Gonzalez and who ever is guarding him will be a key match up.

I'm predicting a false start.

I laughed. But seriously, maybe Abraham should be worrying more about closing the lanes during rushes. If they hold us to under 200 yards rushing I will be surprised.

Everyone wonders how Dallas will cover Gonzalez, even though we have Sensibaugh (sp?) who has done it in the past. Yet the Falcons have nobody to cover Witten, and this always goes un-noticed.

Flozell will dominate this guy. JG should run right at him all day.
