That is shaping up to be a ridiculously hard schedule. They better go get a FA receiver that can make plays if they want to be a playoff team next year.

If anybody is scared of these teams AT HOME, they need to check themselves. We should smoke the Bears and Lions while J-ville and Tenn suck on the road.

Honestly, I haven't been too impressed with them even this year....too much of a cupcake schedule....I wish that we DID have them on the schedule this year....If we meet them in the playoffs, we smash them....do you see the push that the Bears are getting everytime they run the ball? They are just pushing them backwards for 3-5 yards.....

Austin is obviously not the head case the last 2 are, but if we're talking about talent, I can't say he's better than any of those 5

I don't care who we play in the playoffs in rd 2, cause imo the best 3 teams in the NFC are Dallas, Philly and GB, so I agree. My only thing is, if we played them a month ago it would've been a loss

the top 4 guys I listed have been among the league leaders for like 5 years now. I could even throw in Chad Ochocinco since last year appears to be just a down year and not him slowing down. When Austin produces like this 2 years in a row (hopefully he gets paid by us this offseason), then I can throw around top 5

Who's the #1 RB this year? Would you say that it is Chris Johnson? He hasn't been doing it for years now....

Let's not throw out what some player did just because he "hasn't done it for a couple of years"......

Just like next year's december has NOTHING to do with previous decembers...each year stands on it's own.

You make some good points. Scandrick should also push Newman, perhaps pushing Newman to free safety.

I'd like to see Brewster emerge and push Kosier. Kosier does alright, but one more year on his chassis isn't going to do him any good. Colombo will be back, and is servicable for a couple more years, but Free has proven he can do the job, and he should push Flozell. I don't think any of the backup linemen can be expected to emerge as starters.

I'm not happy with Barber III either. He isn't hitting the holes like he used to, and these delayed draws into the line for no gain are getting old. Perhaps its time to draft another running back. I do believe Jones and Choice can handle the load. Barber is getting the PT because he is getting paid like a starter.

Am I wrong to think Brady James is average? He had a good game against Washington, but he hasn't been dominant much this year. Brooking is getting a little old for this game, for the position he plays. Who takes his place? Has Carpenter, or can Carpenter, take his place next year? Carp plays mostly in passing situations.

I think Hamlin also needs to be reconsidered for next year., Dallas hasn't had a dominant safety since Woodson. Hamlin doesn't bring much anymore.

Not sure Newman can tackle well enough and more importantly hold up to a season as a FS. But the idea is intriguing.

Wow, I hope the Colts, Texans, and Packers are the first half of the season. Better chance for us to win with our early season record, or they mail it in late season.

Not that they can't beat them no matter where they play, but I want that superbowl at home, and the path of least resistance, I think would be the above.

That's the thing I love about analyzing players.

Just as a guy has been doing it long enough to be considered among the greats, he's old enough to start tearing down as being too old.

Austin is performing like a top five wide receiver. Is he, ultimately? Yeah, only time can tell. But his performance is indisputable.

One last thing on this argument: Judging wide receivers is tough as it's so stat-heavy, and guys can only produce (typically) when handed a good passer. You want to throw in guys like Steve Smith (Carolina) and Calvin Johnson or whoever, yet their stats don't match other top-tier guys. Of course, there are reasons for that ... but what do you do? Just start judging guys on pure physical talent and not performance? Does Welker fall to like No. 23 in such a scenario?

That pretty much seals the Bears as our Thanksgiving opponent next year. I doubt they put a great division game on Thanksgiving.
