Calvin Watkins E-mail News tips
There's plenty of talk on the blog about what to do with Roy Williams, the safety. The easy answer is to cut him and move on. But Williams has expressed a interest in staying in Dallas. Williams' agent Jordan Woy would like to meet with the Cowboys regarding a new deal of some sort.
But if the Cowboys move away from Williams, that means you have to move Anthony Henry to safety, right? Well, unless you believe Mike Jenkins or Orlando Scandrick is ready to take over the other corner spot opposite Terence Newman.
Is Ken Hamlin ready to move to the strong safety spot which would allow Henry to become a free safety?
The Cowboys also have free agent safety Keith Davis out there. He wasn't bad at safety with Williams out due to a broken forearm. But Davis isn't the long-term answer. Is Pat Watkins ready to take over at free safety?
Probably not.
And let's not talk about Courtney Brown. Dallas should keep Williams and give him one more chance to prove himself.
Or maybe they should cut him. But if they do, the Cowboys better have a solid plan in place.
