The last catch is one of my favorite plays in football.

I like it as well, its a lot easier to execute in college.

My favorite pass play is any version of a double move- post corner, slant n go, out n up, square in and up, and the stop n go.

Great receivers can run double moves very well, Terry Glenn was great about baiting DBs and setting up the double move. He was a very deceptive route runner and its no surprise that our offense fell off when he got injured.

It would be nice to see him stay healthy and make the team and push Hurd, Austin and Stanback off the injured list. I still believe what JJ used to say, "you can't make the club in the tub". Cut one of these guys with "potential" that is always on the injured list, and soon all the lingering injuries will disappear....

With undrafted WR Kevin Ogletree sidelined by a knee injury, seventh-round pick Manny Johnson picked a pretty good time to have his best practice as a Cowboy.

Johnson made a tough catch on a deep ball against Mike Mickens early in the practice and finished the session with a flurry. He beat Mike Jenkins for three completions from Jon Kitna on the final drive of the day, causing all kinds of whooping and hollering by the offensive starters on the sideline.

Is that cause for concern about the '07 first-round pick who will play a major role this season? Perhaps. But it's probably just a speed bump for Jenkins, who has had a very good off-season.

It was a significant development for Johnson. He was below Ogletree on the depth chart. Ogletree had been working as the No. 3 receiver with Miles Austin and Sam Hurd nursing injuries.

Johnson has a major opportunity this minicamp with his primary competitors (Ogletree and Isaiah Stanback) for what will probably be the last WR roster spot out with knee injuries. The ex-Sooner seized the opportunity this morning.

I've said it before and I will say it again. O Scan is a bigger talent and much further along in development than the higher drafted Jenkins. O Scan would have put Manny in his back pocket. :D

Anyone else think Manny Johnson could become a Marques Colston? lol. Not really a burner but just really crafty and runs crisp routes? I thought he was pretty polished at Oklahoma.

I'm not basing this comparison because of these reports coming out the last few days. Just like Four I aslo had some weird hunch that he could become a huge steal when we drafted him.

Uh oh. We're in trouble. Please backpedal immediately! :p:

As an OU fan, I watched all the games and this guy stood out nicely. When he went down with a horrific looking dislocated elbow I was bummed because he looked like one of our best weapons. He ended up playing the very next week and made some great grabs even with one elbow all bandaged/harnessed up. His only limitation may be his size,,, and heck, Terry Glenn made a nice career for himself as a little guy, so I'm hopeful for Manny. This team could use a slot speedster...

thanks man - always good to get that kind of input on our players!

Manny was better than Iglesias at OU IMO.

He was a bluechip stud and turned it into a pretty nice career.

That elbow was sick! I watched it live. Picture your forearm going the other direction...that's what happened. He obviously showed his toughness, by fighting through it.

Not an OU fan...just a fan of football...I think he could be a diamond in the rough!

Da Sooners !! ;)

I love Manny. He was one of my favorite players at OU. Great all around kid and a real football player. It was fun to see him catch and run. He was making big plays regularly there for a while.

I hope the kid blows them away.

The only thing he will have to get use to is not being open by 20yds, and scoring in 4 plays like OU did last year. That hurry up kicked almost everybody butts...with the exception of a couple!

Bleu Star,

What about MacMahan's report yesterday?

11:54 -- Manny Johnson got good separation from Scandrick on a corner route. Kitna was able to complete the pass for a 30-plus-yard gain despite throwing off his back foot due to pressure.

Every dog has it's day. That's one route. He abused Jenkins numerous times.

As an OU fan, I always liked Manny over Iglesias. I was excited when we picked him. I hope he turns out well for us. Very tough dude.
