By the way, there's another McFadden clip floating around that shows him outrunning Laron Landry pretty cleanly (Landry actually falls on his face much like Highsmith in this video). And Landry ran a 4.35.

Actually, quite a few posters on this board have said much the same thing. Are they idiots too? The video is pretty conclusive or does he have to highlight every run that DMac has done? He was right, that linebacker in the video DID almost catch him and his legs DID quit turning as soon as he was hit. Is this coachable? Well the leg turning and the arm carrying is but the speed which is supposed to be his claim to fame isn't. The fact is... he was run down by a linebacker. More and more, i'm becoming a fan of Mendenhall.

Anyone worrying about McFadden's speed, needs to stop worrying. Don't allow this one instance to warp your perception.

Having watched him throughout his career at Arkansas, speed is not a concern.

I need some help. Highsmith is number 7. The player that almost caught Dmac was wearing number 3. On the play being discussed, number 3 was playing in the secondary. He came up to support the play on the outside and met a blocker and gave chase after mac got through the hole. If I'm wrong, let me know

He takes all the 5 or 6 bad clips of McFadden and then 5 or 6 best Mendenhall plays and goes see he is much better. Well yes when you look at it that way. How about ya show some stats? How about ya throw in the fact that McFadden shared time with another great RB and still managed to be Hiesman runner up two years in a row.

What's your point? Is there some physics law that requires linebackers to be slow? I've seen Ware chase down Reggie Bush and Brian Westbrook from behind.

He did outrun him. Easily. He outran what will likely be the fastest linebacker in the draft, despite not being able to use his arms.

Not only that, he had the presence to run inside so his blocker could simply take out the LBer.

I wish I could post the video a couple years ago where Mayock showed Reggie Bush making a couple of cuts on runs against Notre Dame as evidence that he definitely would be able to be an "every down, between the tackles" RB in the NFL. We see how that's worked out so far.

I also wish everyone above us had the same opinion of D-Mac as Mayock. :)

Im pretty sure DMC can do what Mendenhall did in that clip, with more of a burst.
