Mike Singletary spent most of his time with the media Wednesday talking about how Alex Smith will be San Francisco's starting quarterback.

But the 49ers head coach also spent a little time talking about his interview with Jerry Jones several years ago before the Cowboys hired Wade Phillips.

"It was quite an experience,'' Singletary said. "He (Jones) asked a lot of great questions and had a lot of great input.

"That interview will always be something special to me.''

How did I know that even Mike Singletary respecting our GM would be dissed?

And you know when Wade is no longer here, Singletary would love to get another interview.

They all want to coach the Cowboys.

Agreed 100%.

My point exactly... I love me some Mike & it's nice to hear some insight into the interview process that I wish would have made him our next HC. I'm cool with Wade now but still wanted some Mike (no homo) and like what he is building in San Fran.

I was at a Boys & Girls Club dinner a few years ago where Singletary spoke. He said it was a special event.

I think most of this is joking rather than serious, and I think most folks know what Singletary is all about from a character standpoint.

But I'm just sayin...

Mike doesn't roll that way.

Because the incessant bashers do not have the nads to admit that Jerry is actually widely respected as a knowledgeable owner and gm and that he is not a stereotypical football clueless salesman or publicity hound.
