I'm really shocked there has been no mention of moving Martellus to the slot for certain packages. I think he is more than athletic enough and it would also make it easier to run in 3WR sets. I bring this up just to point out that replacing a slot WR isnt too difficult. I dont think Austin will ever be more than a good slot receiver.

Like I said if they offer him something that is anything above average, in anyway, I'd let him walk and take the 2nd rounder for sure.

The DMN changed the title of their blog entry to 'No offer Yet'

I think we should do the same with this thread.

An offer is coming.

Just a prediction and although the report "says" an offer will be made it won't. I hope 1 is though.

why would you hope that? you want us to lose the guy?

If he does get a offer let him go... Take the 2nd and run... Give the Bills a 4th for Roscoe Parrish and sign Tory Holt.. Use the 2 second rounders to Improve the rest of the team..

Not if we draft Mike Wallace:D

This is true! I think he's going to be the steal of the draft. I've seen him play and he is a playmaker! Plus he's got a great name.

Still it's contingent on the brass. I still wouldn't want to lose Miles.....I'm want to see what he can do as the starter. That's what everyone is forgetting.......we haven't even gotten a real chance to see him start yet!!

Why does the title of this thread state "...no offer expected," when there is an offer expected whether it happens or not?

No, I like Austin but if they make him an offer that means he's worth at least a 2nd rounder and that gives us options. I just like having options. We could match the offer. Even if it is a good chunk of money the Jets offer we could give him that deal too. If Jerry believe he can get more out of the Jets after signing Austin he can still trade him to the Jets.

The most we lose is us having to pay the guy what his talent demands and can be compensated in different ways if not. If we don't get an offer all of those options are no longer available to us. I really haven't heard of any other restricted FA's getting any serious action from other clubs so people throughout the league truly must believe Austin is up and coming, especially if an offer would be made.

If this doesn't tell you something about the WRs Dallas will be looking at, in the second round (51), I don't know what will.

The Jets don't want Brian Robiskie.

Hmm. I wonder why.
Maybe they think Robiske won't make it to the 52nd pick. As a matter of fact the only receiver who could make it that far is Iglesias. Im sure the Jets think if Robiske is there at 51st pick we would more than likely take him.

I don't know.

Why would the Cowboys take Robiskie at 51 if they keep Austin? If the Jets want Robiskie, then, they wouldn't take Austin away from us and risk the Cowboys panicing and reaching on a high bust position or taking their guy.

The odds of Dallas taking a WR at 51 if they keep Austin is very slim, imo. They just gave up a 1 and 3 to get Roy Williams. Plus, Dallas doesn't like drafting them to begin with.

I would watch Percy Harvin. If DeSean Jackson can fall, he sure can.

The Bears could look at Robiskie, but they like Mohamed Massaquoi, too.

There is a zero percent chance that we get Percy. He's off the Cowboys list.

We took Percy off our draft board, so it doesnt matter if he falls or not.

The rumor going around on the Internet is that Percy failed a drug test at the combine. I have no idea if this is true or not, but something caused Dallas to completly take him off our board.

The only thing that concerns here is the potential use of the poison pill.

The Cowboys know Miles best.

If he signs with the Jets and choose to not match and take the 2nd, fine.

If the Cowboys match the deal, fine.

I only worry that he's stolen via a poison pill. That would suck.

Miles Austin visits Jets; no offer expected

Calvin Watkins E-mail News tips

Miles Austin visited the Jets today and left without getting a contract offer.

Now this doesn't mean he won't get one. The Jets are thinking about what type of offer to extend to Austin, a restricted free agent, and if it does happen it has to occur by April 17.

Should the Jets submit a contract to Austin, the Cowboys have one week to match the deal or receive a second-round draft pick from the Jets.

The Cowboys currently have 11 draft picks.

"This is where I started," Austin said to Timmy Mac on Wednesday before visiting the Jets. "There's a connection to Dallas obviously. You also want to be somewhere they want you, and I think [the Cowboys] do."

The Cowboys are very high on Austin. I would suspect he would compete with Patrick Crayton for the No. 2 wide out spot in training camp.

What's up with this wording? I assumed Miles would have to sign any offer submitted by the Jets.

He doesn't have to sign any offer if he doesn't want to. But odds are he'll take the long-term deal.
