I. Most solid hit of the day on Cowboys-ex Terrell Owens came on NBC's slimmed down Football Night in America from rookie analyst Rodney Harrison, the ex-Pats safety: "When we faced Dallas, it wasn't even about T.O. It was about Marion Barber and the running game, and Jason Witten, who, to me, is the best player on their team in the passing game."
II. Back on Fox's Cowboys-Bucs broadcast nooner on Fox: Kenny Albert, who called play-by-play, may be the closest thing to Pat Summerall at any network. And that's a compliment. The less said in the TV booth usually better.
III. Several times analyst Daryl Johnston mentioned that Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer was a tick late getting to where he was going. That's not a compliment. He was also tough on Tony Romo in the first half. DJ was in mid-season form.
IV. Michael Irvin's advice on the NFL Network was accepted by Jason Garrett: "The Dallas Cowboys have to establish that the $45 million man is at least worth some of the money they're paying him." That would be Roy Williams and his production against the Bucs was just fine.
V. I guess Tony Siragusa, not nearly as annoying as in past sideline duty, wasn't really trying to stir things up when near the end of the second quarter, he observed Williams "looking like he's getting a little upset that Tony is not looking at him downfield."
.
VI. On Fox's pre-game show, Jimmy Johnson picked on the Giants and picked the Cowboys to do something they haven't done much since he left Dallas: "The Giants will struggle because Eli will struggle with those receivers. Dallas is going to have a good year. With Marion Barber and Felix Jones, they are going to run the football well...and they will win a playoff game this year."
VII. Did you wince too when Kenny Albert began a sentence, "Flozell Adams, who has committed more penalties than any other player in the league the last two seasons..."
VIII. I don't know if it was just the audio settings on my new TV, but most games sounded as if the crowd noise was turned way up and the announcers' microphones were tuned down during Sunday's broadcasts.
IX. ESPN has the Bills at Patriots in the opener of its Monday Night doubleheader tonight. Who will get more attention from the booth and in the studio T.O. or T.B.? I'm taking Terrell Owens. You can have Tom Brady in this matchup.
X. Despite all the college football and NFL action this weekend, Serena Williams and Kanye West will dominate water cooler talk this morning. Thanks youtube.
