Montrae Holland won't be ready this week

Tim MacMahon

OG Montrae Holland, acquired in a trade with the Broncos last week, said he's in playing shape. But he can't see himself replacing Kyle Kosier in the starting lineup Sunday in Cleveland.

"Immediately? No," Holland said. "I've got to get some time with the playbook first."

Holland, who started all 16 games for Denver last season, declined to set a timetable for when he would be ready. The Cowboys' scheme is vastly different than the Broncos' zone-blocking approach, but Holland said he played in a similar offense with the Saints.

To be honest I really did not expect him in the lineup this week anyways

Whoever gets the start better show up and play well.

All I want to hear next Monday is that the replacement filled in admirably.

I predict that McQuistan will win the job for good. If he plays good and Dallas wins at Cleveland, he will start the Philadelphia game for sure.

He can ask Witten what to do on each play. Witt responds to that well.

Umm that sounds like a wonderful attitude.

Captain Happy (Jerry Jones) Said when asked if holland would be ready to go in cleveland..."that is why hudson houck is the highest paid offensive line coach in the country"

so holland might want to start reading. Since he has been declared by many on this board as the starting LG over kosier even when he is healthy, he had better catch up fast.

I do see this happening tho. He's bigger, stronger, and just as mobile as Kosier. He's also HH type of olinemen. It wouldn't be shocking if he replaced Kosier permanently. Kosier would be a OUTSTANDING backup.

Pat McQuistan is 6'6" and has to relearn playing low now that he's moved to guard again. McQ also has to develop communication with Flo and 'Dre so he can properly identify his man when the defense is shifting around or showing a blitz look.

Big Red is also starting for the first time since '05 as a college senior at Weber State. That's quite a layoff and his conditioning will be put to the test for the first time under game conditions.

Yah, the coaching staff better get that LG spot shored up and figured out right from the first game. I don't want our franchise QB getting blindsided because Big Red can't handle working for his money as opposed to sitting on the bench. 3 yrs, progress orhit the bricks. Lots of Big boys looking for a big pay day just waiting to get an opportunity like McRed. Heard he was doing some interviews while Gurode and Flo were looking at him. The only thing I want to hear out of McRed's gap is he's dying to pancake someone. I haven't seen any nasty streak out of him any bit I've seen him play. Don't know what Sporano and Parcells saw that was nasty 2 yrs ago.

I would think most of us would know he wouldn't be ready week one. Course that doesn't mean he won't play. I hope he doesn't cause....
