Now the NFL Network is getting into the act. If you want to come up with a list to catch people's attention it's never bad to start with something Cowboys.

NFLN is ranking the Top 10 folks in the history of various franchises. The series begins at 7 tonight with the Cowboys. Note it's not only players. It's people who have contributed to the franchise.

Here's the Top 10 (If you don't want to know, don't turn the page):

10. Drew Pearson
9. Don Meredith
8. Randy White
7. Tony Dorsett
6. Troy Aikman
5. Emmitt Smith
4. Bob Lilly
3. Michael Irvin
2. Roger Staubach
1. Tom Landry

OK, I'll start the yapping right here. Michael Irvin No. 3? Ahead of Bob Lilly, Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman? No Tex Schramm? No Jerry Jones? No Mel Renfro?

Discuss among yourselves.

if it's based upon contribution, Jerry Jones should be #1 on this list

The All-Time leading rusher, the man with the second most TD's (1st rushing) ever,.... is only 5th on that list? An argument can be made that Emmitt was the best RB ever... but is only the 5th "greatest Cowboy"..... I'm thinking more like 2 is a better fit... hard to put him in front of Landry.

The Cowboys would be just another team if it weren't for Tex. He should be number two.

It is too hard to put all these people and some not in the top 10 in any type of order because they have all meant so much to this franchise and the success of it. To me it is like picking one of your children over another.

How cool is your team when Emmitt Smith debatably ranks 5 on a list of your top 10 players?

Danny White should be on that list. He shouldn't be high, but he should be on the list. :(

How the heck does our all time sack leader not make that list? :bang2:

ESPN is out of their minds.

I might actually agree with you. Might.

I can take Michael Irvin at 2. He was the heart and soul of the 90s teams, and they were never the same and never amounted to anything after he was gone.

I find it hard to believe that this is a list put together by Cowboy fans. We, as a whole, could not be this stupid.

I'd put him at #2 right behind Landry my self

I'd swap Irvin with Emmit then Aikman with Irvin. Mike may have been the heart and soul of the team but he did a few thing to tarnish the image of the team.

He's more then made up for that in recent years and his passion for the cowboys is 2nd to none

IMO Tex or Landry could be #1 or #2. No way Tex should be that low on the list.

Maybe so but IMO the others have done more and again it's just my opinion
