I don't know man... That whole feigning away when they were down instead of nutting it up and making the obvious tackle on Ward turned my stomach. He has a little work to do in order to regain my confidence. If he is going to do that in that type of situation it makes me wonder if he can be trusted when the cards are really on the table. Perhaps I am making more out of what it was but the video tells the story... Huge talent.. questionable head (IMO)

Scandrick clearly outplayed Jenkins and was a rock solid contributor last year.
(unless my eyes are going bad)

I have to agree. I have not lost hope in Jenkins, there is no question he has the skills, but Scandrick outplayed him and out hearted him.

Agreed on both accounts. But if the coaching staff decides to start Jenkins instead, it'll be because he's the better player. I doubt there's much incentive for them to start the inferior player, as the author implies.
The coaching staff decided to sit Felix Jones for much of the early season. The coaching staff decided to start Procter over Holland. The coaching staff chose to sit Tashard Choice when it was obvious that Barber was injured and was hurting the team. Our coaching staff decided to run the ball only 39% of the time.

Point is, just because our coaching staff decides it to be the case, doesn't mean it's the right choice. They're obviously fallible.

Those were all on the offensive side of the ball, though. :)

a guy who many consider the greatest cornerback of all time used to shy away from tackles quite often.

HA!

Purely by coincidence. Honestly, I can't think of any personnel/questionable play calls on the defense (after Wade took over, that is).

Here we go with the off the wall comparisons... :) On one extreme you have the rook that made himself infamous with his lack of desire to tackle Derrick Ward when getting spanked as if he didn't even care to be out on the field. On the other hand you have a perennial HOFer that made a living shutting down one half of the field... The rook has a long way to go before he can be mentioned in the same conversation as Deion... Even if they do, at first glance appear to share the same lack of intestinal fortitude with open field tackling.

In today's NFL, the nickelback is basically a starter. He and Jenkins will both be a big part of our defense now that Anthony "who's man is this" Henry is gone.

All Henry had to do was look over to Roy "It was His Guy!" Williams and he would have known.

I completely agree with you. Scandrick played well. Jenkins was a bit uneven and that Giants moment was just weak.

That was a disgrace. Scandrick was all over the field though.

Was he better than Jenkins last year?

sure, but "much more impressive"? hardly

I would have to say that some of the plays Jenkins made were much more impressive than any plays Scandrick made, even though Scandrick was the more consistent cover man, like that tip downfield against the Eagles, that was an incredible play, not many corners in the NFL have that type of athleticism and timing

When judging their "overall" play last year Scandrick was clearly the more reliable player on the field. He came out of nowhere and surprised a lot of people with his heart and never say mercy gameplay. I love to see a player like that out on the field. I'm sure I will get over that moment in time when Jenkins made some question him... I'm also sure he can be a solid corner in the league. Dude has talent. At the same time, I prefer consistency over the occasional big play. I would prefer to see OScan back out there opposite TNew but TC will ultimately prove who deserves to be there.

yes, he was more reliable

but we're dealing with small sample sizes here, and it's not like teams targeted any of them like they did with Jacque Reeves

This is such a huge blessing!

If we lose a CB to injury you may wish he was still here. Depending on a rookie isRISKY. And I still don't trust Ball.

Anthony Henry was one big continuouslyhuge liability in coverage. I'll take my chances with anyone not named Anthony Henry. Good riddance.

I saw what was probably a replay yesterday of a Scandrick interview on Tylock Lasik Sportstalk or whatever they call it, Ch. 52 here in Dallas. Taped in the last month or two that is.

Man, that guy is a really, really impressive interview. He's got the fire and the brains both in quantity. Never mind coaching, he might have politics in his future!

Well, Henry was a liability at times. He also was the most likely to come up with an interception. And he was experienced. As a 4th or 5th CB he was better than anything outside those top three. He would take a roster spot away though. My guess is between Ball, Mickens, and Williams we'll find another CB who can contribute this year. But don't write any checks yet.
