The last time the newest Cowboy (Jones) and the newest re-signed Cowboy (Owens) were together on a field, Owens caught five passes for 88 yards in Dallas' 45-14 win at Tennessee on Oct. 1, 2006, but he did not score a touchdown.

As part of a pre-game conversation, Owens had to pay up on a friendly wager afterward.

"I kept him out of the end zone, so he gave me his shoes," Jones said after that game. "That was the deal. It came down (Saturday). We talked on the phone."

It was one of the stranger sights to see Owens walk to the locker room in his socks.

Owens nearly had a TD grab, but he couldn't hang on to a Drew Bledsoe pass that was a little too far ahead. Owens was hoping for a replay booth review on the play, but it never came. You also might remember this game as the first one for Owens after his accidental overdose and him playing with a broken bone in his right hand and for some other weird stuff, like Albert Haynesworth stomping on a helmet-less Andre Gurode.

Here's what he said about the shoe-transaction after the game: "I know Pacman. He is a great guy. He asked me for my shoes, and I gave it to him ... He is going to have to put some tissues in those shoes. Those are some big shoes to fill."

I wonder if Pacman still has the cleats?

T.O. and his age

Dallas Cowboys wideout Terrell Owens most likely will retire with the team, something he said he wanted to do a few weeks ago. But T.O. will turn 35 in December, I should know, I've been to his last two birthday parties.

Anyway, we wonder if Owens will still put up some strong numbers this season at the ripe old age of 34.

Jerry Rice had 108 catches for 1,254 yards with eight touchdowns for the 49ers when he was 34.

Cris Carter, a Hall of Fame finalist last year, had 90 catches for 1,254 yards and 8 scores for the Vikings at 34.

James Lofton, the Hall of Famer, had 35 receptions for 712 yards with only four touchdowns for the Bills at 34.

Steve Largent, Tulsa's own, had 39 receptions for 645 yards with only two touchdowns for Seattle.

Michael Irvin of the Cowboys was retired before he was turned 34, so its unfair to compare his numbers.
Do you believe T.O. will be productive in his mid-30s? That's the question unless the Cowboys sign another receiver to help him. We'll get to Terry Glenn's situation a little later in the day.

TO is in amazing shape for his age. With 15 TD's last year, I see him getting as many if not more this year.

I agree, dest. There's absolutely nothing to indicate that he will slow down any time soon. Of course injuries are always a concern, but I don't think he's injury-prone for a guy his age. I'm gettin' my popcorn ready.

TO has the body of a guy 10 years younger than him. I can see him playing until 40 easily (or pretty much as long as he wants to).

Steve Largent, Tulsa's own, had 39 receptions for 645 yards with only two touchdowns for Seattle.

Largent was the only one who really started hitting the wall at age 34. Rice got hurt at age 35, but came back at age 36 and had 1,157 yards. He also had more than 1,100 yards at ages 39 and 40. Carter had more catches (96) and yards (1,274) at 35 than he did at 34. And Lofton had 22 more catches (57) and 360 more yards (1,072) at 35 than he did at 34.

Guys such as Tim Brown, Art Monk, Irving Fryar, Charlie Joiner and Joey Galloway also have put up big numbers at age 34 or older. And you could argue that Terrell Owens is physically superior to all of them.

Without researching, I'm guessing it's Rice. (1000+ yards at 40 years old)

I think T.O. will continue to produce at a high level save for one thing. Injuries will start to mount up unless the Cowboys can take some of the pressure off him.

Romo is still growing as a quarterback, and that alone will help T.O. If the Cowboys can come up with a speed receiver to play opposite T.O., and Witten stays healthy, heaven help the opposition. With Felix catching the ball out of the backfield, this offense should be scary.

Pacman really impressed me as a player that day he matched up against T.O. Even though he was overmatched in physical size he played very aggressively and he did a very good job containing T.O. The pass break up in the end zone was a great play.

I didn't like him but he was very impressive as a CB that day.

Odds are I believe that TO will not match his recent productivity throughout this contract.

Was this extension a bad deal? I call it 50/50.

I know you realistically need to provide some future for TO so he maximizes his play in the present But I doubt he will make 8 million + worth of contribution 2-3 years out. Taking care of oneself is great and certainly has its benefits but it will not hold Father Time at bay forever.

I think the success of this deal is dependent on how much #1 WR pay escalates in the next couple years and how much pain it causes us if we have to exit early.

I think TO will have his hands full maintaining his top 5 status for 2008 and 2009. I think we will absolutely see drop-off after that. No disrespect intended.
