I did listen to it.

Loved hearing his ringing endorsement of Hurd. He loves all of his receivers. He's high on Austin as well. He called him a bigger version of Donald Driver.

Ok....I have a feeling this may be headed in a direction I don't want to go. We Cowboy fans are so easily polarized. Whether it's White/Hogenboom, Aikman/Walsh, Carter/Hutchinson, Romo/Henson.....last year folks took sides with Hurd/Austin.

You can really like both guys. I do......I'm excited that our top four guys seem to be having nice camps.

Hey....If Hurd beats out Austin and develops into a WR that can challenge defenses deep, then GREAT! I haven't seen him play WR in a while....so I don't know. I do know that Austin can get open deep. That was never a question. Now, it seems he is consistently catching the ball.

Hopefully, he'll continue to grow.

I'm not actually lobbying for Hurd. I honestly don't give a rip who ends up winning out, and I love our WR corps right now, at least in terms of personalities. I'd just never heard Sherman wax on about Hurd to that extent before and think it's pretty cool that the coach thinks that highly of the player who's our 4.

I like all four of our top wide receivers.

Each brings a different dimension to the offense.

Roy is big with sure hands and should be a match-up nightmare, especially for red zone fades and jump balls.

Patrick Crayton has superb hands, route running and quickness.

Miles Austin is the big play threat.

Sam Hurd really brings it as a blocker and just seems to come up with plays when we need them.

Lastyear before he went out it seemed Hurd and Austin was neck and neck for the 3rd spot. I think they all will get alot of playing time.

Remembering last pre-season, Sam Hurd was ahead going to camp and Miles Austin closed the gap after it started.

Austin carried it over to pre-season and was awesome in the first two games only to suffer a knee injury in the second one covering a kickoff after hauling in a touchdown.

Which was a coaching mistake.

Hurd didn't do much in those games, he came on in the third and fourth games with Austin sidelined. And then Hurd was injured during brief duty in the pre-season finale.

Austin led the team in pre-season receiving yards while playing parts of only two games.

First of all I think Crayton is a good receiver. But not a #2 wr. He makes an excellent #3 slot receiver.

This team will be a playoff team because of the defense and running game.

GHurd was troubled by an injury and went on the IR with a High Ankle sprain

Best man win but I think the team needs Austin's speed on the field.

Two TEs + Williams + Crayton = where's the speed? Especially when Felix isn't on the field.

Michael Irvin, Jay Novacek, Alvin Harper, Moose Johnston, Emmitt Smith.

How much speed did all of those guys have?

It is not speed, it is execution. The two TE are going to create mismatches and will keep the safeties back IMO.

By the way, I like CRayton in the slot better too and would like Austin starting on the outside. I hope Austin earns that role!

I'm not as concerned with who wins the #2 job or who the fan favorite is, I just expect whoever does win it produces on the field.

Let the best man start. Miles puts you in a better position to win and hold onto a catch.

Umm, only if he can stay on the field.

Dropped catches in playoffs are remembered more, than many ordinary catches made, i guess.

And yet you are confident in a guy who is yet to remain healthy for an entire season.

Just give me the guy who can stay on the field, and execute.

Yeah I agree.

I wouldnt even number these guys. Crayton in the slot - thats all.

He cant get open otherwise.

You might want to go watch 2 seasons ago when Crayton started all season long as our 2nd WR, and we had one of our best offenses ever.

He was among the top half of #2 WRs in the league. And put up good numbers.

To say he can't get open is downright ignorant of your own team's recent history.

Crayton is a guy who I will always be hoping gets benched for somebody with more upside and athleticism, but when he's on the field, I know he'll still make plays if the opportunity arises.

bad news unless Techmo Bowl Garrett has changed his ways & will actually use the strength of our Offense (3 RBs, 2 TEs). WR is and has always been our WEAKNESS since #88 got carried off the field :(

Now when you factor the lack of ball TECHMO'S pop-gun offense has created we can only hope he's changed his ways (very unlikely but we can always hope).

Hard not to when it's obviously and demonstrably true.

From the sounds of things in camp, we didn't really need to make the RW trade last year. That makes me sad. We might have gotten into the Torry Holt sweepstakes for much less money and used the picks to bolster the OL instead. Hindsight's 20/20, but it sounds like coach Sherman's very high on each of the 2, 3, 4 guys. Our scouts must have been pretty high on RW for that trade to make sense.

Just to be clear (since I'm one of the people pushing relentlessly for Austin) I like Crayton a lot. As a #3, he's phenomenal. As a #2, he's pretty good. That I think Austin deserves the #2 spot doesn't denigrate Crayton, but rather shows how good I think Austin is.

And I don't think who gets the starting job will necessarily mean that player outperformed another player. Veteran status brings a level of comfort that can force coaches to give one player an edge, even if another player is outplaying them.

Absolutely agree.

And how many times have we seen that before?

Just last season, Ellis started - not because he was playing better - but because he was the veteran and the team didn't want to ruffle his delicate 'feathers'.

And even as Procter continued to stink it up and nearly got Romo killed more than once, the team stuck with the mediocre player they knew rather than going with Holland.

I think they're making the same mistake with McQuistan this season.
