Not according to the pro bowl roster they aren't (FS that is)

And the point was that SS are getting more credit if you go by the position listings for the probowl

Dude, you've got two guys from the same damn team listed there. Are they both playing the same position?

I don't care if that story says they play beach volleyball for a living, they were free safeties during the season, and that is what got them into the pro bowl.

...and the point was that there aren't any SS's in the NFC that deserve to go to the pro bowl any more than Williams, and that he got in due to lack of worthy candidates, amongst other things.

I don't see how Witten doesn't get the number one spot. They must only be looking for pure receiving tight ends. That's bull.

And I don't see how Newman doesn't get 2 or 3. How in the world do they figure one dimensional players like Samuel and Trufant are better? I'm pretty sure last year was the first good year Trufant has had.

Dont be a homer....

Clearly that is why the Colts are so vulnerable to the pass.

Probably going on last season alone rather than the previous year...he had an off year last season, I think.

He might have had an off year but no way hes not one of the best five in the league, but if you hardly punt all season and don't kick off you hardly get the chance to get your name mentioned do you. Ouroffense was too good last year to make a punter stand out.

Exactly...Witten would be #2 on my list.

Antonio Gates is the best TE in the NFL hands down in my opinion.

...so that makes him a Homer?

....because he thinks the #2 TE (in your opinion) is actually the #1 TE?

That suggests also that they think his probowl appearances are undeserved.

top 25% doesn't go to the probowl

You should inform the players and coaches as well as the fans. They all have a say and I have a hard time believing that any one of those categories can completely put a guy into the pro bowl.

Actually Newman was tied for 3rd 4.05 rating. He was fifth on the list because his first name begins with T instead of "A" and "M". Witten behing Gonz, Gates and Winslow isn't bad at all. He's not the "athlete" they are that's why his rating isn't as high

Well if this were the top rated "athletes" in the NFL I wouldn't disagree with the ranking...but seeing as how its the top rated "players", I do.

Gonz has lost a step. Witten behind Winslow is laughable. Witten blocks better than all three.

Hey man I'm with you but that was the MAIN reason he was listed 4th. I wouldn't trade him for anyone except Gates. And their athletecisms has to be taken in account because it's used to make plays and gives defenses matchup problems

Witten at the LEAST is #2.
Newman is better and has shown better for years then either Trufant or Samuels.
BUT most of that list I think is pretty close.

Lynch and Bethea are listed as strong safeties on there because they were injury replacements for two strong safeties (Sanders and Polamalu). But Lynch and Bethea both played free safety last season and were listed as free safeties on the Pro Bowl ballots --

http://www.nfl.com/polls/ballot?id=327681&campaign=PB0002

So there were five free safeties and four strong safeties. Not that it's relevant.

Thats complete GARBAGE about McBriar.

Easily the top 3, if not #1.

PFW must be eating up those myths.

Let it go. You're starting to sound like a scorned lover.

Noone thinks it's wacky that they somehow got confused and ranked Gurode #1?

Carson Palmer and Drew Brees both didn't do much last season compared to Romo. Romo should be at least third and tops second but not sixth thats redicoulis. Witten is by far the best tight end in the nfl. Jay Ratliff deserves to be on the list Leonard Davis should be number one and our corner backs should be rated higher.

I can't believe Nick Folk and Matt McBriar aren't number 1 or number two in both their categories these raters must be super anti Cowboys.

Folks want a more balanced perspective -- but when I point out more balanced takes, I should "let it go"?

I do think it is odd to put Gurode at #1 -- but I've argued before that his career got a major jump start by the Haynesworth incident. Frankly, you rarely hear anything about centers and he probably got more press than any center in the league that year. I do think he's been outstanding but there are guys who have been doing it more consistently and for longer
