This easily could have been one of two Tony Romo-to-Jason Witten seam routes -- one a sweet adjustment on a ball over the wrong shoulder, the other a perfect pass into an itty-bitty window. But those guys get enough glory.
DE Jason Hatcher, a guy Jerry Jones cited Thursday as an example of young players who have made major progress, doesn't get a lot of headlines. He's trying to take the step from a guy who has shown flashes to a consistent contributor.
Hatcher is off to a nice start in Oxnard, highlighted by a pass-rush move that put 6-6, 353-pound Pro Bowl guard Leonard "Bigg" Davis on the ground. The key was getting Davis off-balance with a quick step inside before making the move.
"That's an old move that Reggie White used to do - give him a step inside, then club him outside," the 6-6, 304-pound Hatcher said. "It worked for me."
That's a bit of an understatement. After all, Davis ranks right up there with Larry Allen as the strongest players in franchise history.
"I still can't believe I did it," Hatcher said.
